I just got under the MS to replace the rear shocks and found that I have one hell of a time reaching the top bolt on the driver side. Are you guys getting a socket on that bolt or just getting an box wrench on it. Bottoms are stuck on like hell....**** I feel like I'm going to sheer the bolt right off....I tried shooting it with some penetrating oil and giving it a few whacks to loosen it up a bit...but she is a tough one. Any suggestions?

I used a wire brush to clean up the areas. I sprayed oil on both the bolts and let it sit a few days. I used an impact screwdriver and whacked it once. After that I was able to loosen it with a 3/8's ratchet.

You probably are already, but make sure you jack up the body of the truck independently. It should raise a few inches to give you proper clearance.

I'm traveling right now...but if you don't find out by Saturday, let me know..and I'll post when I can throw a socket on the bolt. The fronts are 18mm but I believe the backs are quite a bit higher. You might need an impact wrench to get them off too. Those bolts are up near 200 ft-lbs of torque on them and you will strain every muscle in the world trying to get them off. I ended up buying a big kobalt electric impact wrench for the job.....even after a bit of a penetrating oil it still was on there good.

I don't have a 23mm handy to see if I can get it on a bit more snug...but the 24mm is holding without too much play.

Oh man that thing is a pain. I ended up bending the metal in the wheel well to get a better grip, not by much, give it a try, bends back pretty easy.

I sprayed mine with that rust buster crap. Let it soak for three or four days and then went at it with a breaker bar if I remember correctly. I also used a wire brush to clean off the debris first. Try heating it up(not too much!) And hitting it lightly with a plastic mallet. Although I have leaf springs and shocks on the rear;D

I didn't have much problem with the top mount bolts on the rears but I did with the lower. I needed the 1/2 in impact to spin them off. I thought I was strong enough to muscle them off, but I surely was not....haha

Think leafs and coils makes a big difference. Because man there is no room at all in there, but my bottoms were cake.
