So today my AC stopped working.
Of course it hit 35ºC so I had to suffer the way home without it.
The minute I realized it was the belt I recalled that last week I heard a squeaking sound but thought it was the car next to me.
This never happened before, although I changed that same belt like 3 years ago for it was squeaking a bit.
Has anyone else had this happen? I rolled the pulley and it was ok, no rough turn or anything....

Funny you mentioned that mine broke last week. Old belt and I use the ac all the time.

You're supposed to replace belts and hoses every 2 years.

My belt has been squealing for about 2 years. When ever I turn on the AC and hit a high rpm while accelerating it squeals, but only once...then it's fine for the rest of my drive.

How difficult is it to adjust the belt tensioner? Is it something that I could just do myself? I do have access to a shop. How hard is it to get to?

It's easy!....forgot the bolt size if it's a 12mm or 14mm....but you can access it just behind the radiator, just need a ratcheting wrench with long adaptor/extension.
