97 Montero Sport 3.0L w/ A/C. I'm taking a break before attacking this thing again and installing it by myself so there's a lot of just dealing with that, but it doesn't look like it wants to fit properly. I do have a 2" body lift but I can't see where that could cause the problem I'm seeing. It looks like it wants to hit the pusher fan and a/c lines before its back far enough to mount up. any clues? I may have to pull it back off and get the old bumper back on until next week.

Did you get all the old bumper brackets off? The ARB brackets are adjustable so I would tweek it to get it to fit.

Yup, I had the front stripped off today and I re-welded the mount to frame and added braces as it's been posed as being weak (all welds are free from the mounting). I can get the supplied impact absorber brackets (as they call it) bumper hangers to bolt up to the vehicle. I can get them to bolt up to the bumper. I can't get them to install on the vehicle as a unit. I thought you and several others incorporated a body lift on your vehicle and the install looks great. On mine, since the bumper is now attached to the frame it sits 2" low and even if I could live with that aspect it physically hits the a/c lines and pusher fan before the brackets seat where they can be mounted as if they were too short. They have very little adjustment built into them and that seems to only be at the bracket to bumper. The bracket to frame end looks to be a dedicated fit using the original extension bolts and 2 pass through bolts. Do you (or anyone else that reads this) have a body lift with your ARB bumper install? I threw the original bumper back on for now until I get some answers. It's looking like GM is going to release a recall on the old body Impala ignition cyl in the next week and I'll be out of the game for a bit.

I have a suspension not a body lift. Not a fan of body lifts. More headache than they're worth. Mine bolted right up. A body lift changes everything. Sent from my SM-N900V using proboards

Actually, I have the same problem on my big '97. If you push it up where everything lines up, the bumper contacts the metal A/C line and a couple other things. I can't figure out why, 'cause my little '97 doesn't have that problem. Sorry, I don't have a solution or answer. My problem was 'fixed' by using the winch. After half a dozen pulls, its kinda pulled the bumper down and away so it has a bout 2" between the bumper and chrome grill piece. I've never gotten the bumper to stay where I put it if I use winch a couple times. Finally got fed up and just left it the way it is. I do remember, though, that what I did when I mounted it was to put it all on loose and then hook up the winch to something stationary, lock the brakes and drag the truck forward with the winch a couple times. Then I tucked it up and tightened it down. That fixed most of the 'it don't fit right' problems but not the rubbing on the A/C line. Edward

Just an update. I had the local metal shop cut me 2 strips of 3/8" steel plate the same width as the factory mount. Drilled lower holes in the factory mounting location, and since I have a true 2" body lift I drilled 2 more holes 2" above each of the factory locations. I drilled a through hole on the Second hole from the bottom (new bumper mount lower hole). It ends up with 3 bolts going into the frame mount (one with a nut) and the upper just above it. Once bolted up and adjusted in the bumper slots everything is solid and properly aligned. No issues with the a/c line. Even without the additional 3/8" offset from the mounts I have ample clearance to the a/c line so most likely I had things canted a bit. Thanks again guys for the help and advice, things are shaping up.
