Hi all, I suspect my front windshield washer pump has failed. I activate the action (from the drivers seat) and nothing happens, although I have plenty of fluid. I am looking at some basic parts on rockauto.com & find the part to be cheap! maybe I can do this myself! www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=371454&cc=1434098Any help/advice? Thanks in advance. Chris

Chris I replaced the washer pump and reservoir on my 01 MS this past summer, had a leak in bottom of tank, I had to remove my front plastic bumper to get to the tank , you may be able to get to the pump which sits on the bottom of the tank without removing the bumper.

I agree....see if you hear even a bit of humming. It could be a bad ground, connection, relay, etc and not even need to be replaced.

yup, if it's humming then motor should be still good....usual cause is either a clogged line or bottom of the reservoir.

I guess I should have clarified....if it is not humming you need to check electrical connections after checking for the clogs that colted mentioned. Then I would consider changing out the pump

Thanks all for the reply. Finally got a chance tonight in the pitch dark to see where this unit is located. Argh! right in the bumper/headlight area. I am no mechanic but can someone send pics/video on how to get into that area? Maybe I should tackle this job when spring comes around. HA!

think there are like three bolts or clips in the front and a few bolts on the side....I am sure you can figure it out by looking at it. I don't recall exactly but it is simple to take off the plastic fascia to see the washer bottle.

Also if it has wide fenders there are screws going through the bumper cover into the fender bit.
