The interior lamps would stay on and the ajar lamp, on my 01 MS there on the lower door frame, a rubber coated semi round switch protrudes about 12mm, it depresses in when the you shut the door and release when the door is opened, this can also happen from the rear hatch door ajar switch which is inside the hatch and not a rubberized switch like the other four doors.I replaced the 4 ajar switchs on my front front and rear doors that took care of the problem for about 7 months then it returned, thats when I found it to be at the rear hatch ajar.
You can take each door ajar switch out carefully and clean them, I found it easier to replace them.

Observed on mine, usually the rear door is the culprit.

Take out the screw, remove the plunger switch, unplug it from the harness - be VERY careful here - and plug the new one in. Reinstall the screw. Make sure you DO NOT drop the harness plug into the body. It will suck to get it back out. The OEM switches are inexpensive. I think the last one I bought was less than $10. Edward

I have this issue when it is warm out and you hit the brakes, the door light comes on. I haven't got around to tearing the trunk door apart to get to the switch yet. I changed my drivers door switch as it was bad and after cleaning it still didn't function properly.

Always the driver side door for me since that's where the most used. Edward

Edward I have narrowed it down to the hatch switch because when this issue arises, if you stop and open the hatch and shut it harder than normal the issue will go away for some time.
