I was messing with the AC yesterday in my driveway and while in the car monitoring the vent temps, the speedo jumped up to 15mph and back to zero. The rig was in park, what in the world?

If he wasn't directly, I'm sure he was involved. My guess is it was a hic-cup in the electrical or the PCM. I've never had that happen. Hopefully its not indicative of anything. The VSS is magnetic and mechanical. Mmmm. Edward

I have had this happen before but while in motion, it was shifting into 4th and the speedo jumped up and back down. The VSS has been replaced and that didn't change anything aside from the trans being more responsive to downshifting.

The VSS has been replaced and that didn't change anything aside from the trans being more responsive to downshifting. Probably a stupid question, but is everything tight? That sounds like an issue caused by the 'jump' in the trans when a shift occurs - which makes me think there might also be a short developing. I'd check the plug and make sure that's solid on the VSS and check the wiring harness. Speedo on mine just quit about 7-8 miles from Green River last month. No jump, nothing. Just quit. Turned out to be one of the two electrical plugs for the VSS. Unplugged both, plugged them back together and everything was fine. Edward

The big Sport has a different setup than stock. Dakota Digital speedo converter/calibrator with the NP231 Jeep t-cases and Terra's ultra-short output shaft converter that uses the completely electronic VSS. So, I have two plugs - one to the Dakota and one to the VSS. Stock Sports only have the one plug that goes directly to the VSS on the output shaft. Edward
