yup, when engine is at it's optimum operating condition, should be stayin half way, with/without AC engaged. Or just slightly lower. Maybe 1/16 of an inch. That's where both my '97s, my '99 and '03 sit. Edward

Where did you find that? And what is the pressure threshold? I've seen some listed for 10, 12, and 16

Its a cap for the Montero sports. Amazon has them. It's a 13 lb. I believe. Fits awesome. Seems to be pretty accurate too comparing it to a OBD scanner. Although the factory sensor is always better.

I see they have one that looks identical except listed for 16lbs. Wondering what the difference between the different pressures has on performance.

Be CAREFUL about changing radiator caps. The gaskets and water pump etc handle X amount of pressure. Raising it too much can cause all kinds of damage to the internals.

I'd check the FSM but I believe the pressure is 13 lb +/- a few pounds.

Always thought the OEM cap was 16 lbs. That is what I am currently using.
