Tomorrow I will have that gasket replaced and my cat back exhaust system installed. Should I reset the ecu so it can relearn air fuel ratios etc after the installation? Or will it adjust itself pretty fast? This is the first time I have ever done anything to an exhaust besides replacing OEM with OEM.

Exhaust leak fixed, wasn't a gasket, just the 2 bolts where the 2 front catalytic converters join. It's a ball type joint and once they took off the rotted bolts and put new ones in it bolted right back up and was as good as new. Rest of exhaust install went without a hitch. Had to move a couple of hangers but was fast.
Sounds great, a little throaty right at start up, and under moderate to heavy acceleration. At idle it is quieter than stock. Driving up to 65 is between quieter and stock sound. After 70 there is a slight drone, not bad but you know it is there.
Looks good, I will be shortening the tip a little and changing the angle, but the angle cut chrome piece has a nice angle cut that Wil be pretty flush with the bumper when done. I'll work on that when I get the lifts in.
Performance wise there isn't a huge difference but a little, high end feels to rev easier, low end definitely a bit more torque, it won't make our tanks into a sports car, but is a bit faster from stop, and 0 to 60 is definitely shorter time distance. Not night and day different but can tell it doesn't down shift going uphill on the s-curve by my house as much.
I don't have exact numbers, but it is an improvement, and sounds nice. Also take into consideration I have had an exhaust leak for about a month now. I didn't reset the ecu or anything, and sure the computer has to relearn stuff for current conditions. I am thinking of disconnecting the battery this weekend and seeing if that makes any difference. I'm still running 275 70 16s and they are soft tread so they have increased rolling resistance. But sure the 285 70 17s I am thinking about putting on with the new rims will have similar or resistance.

I've been around this several times trying to figure out what's best and it seems to be just simpler to reset the ECM/PCM. Depending on the generation some of the OBD stuff either takes forever to reset or gets cranky. Edward

After 70 there is a slight drone, not bad but you know it is there. Mmmm. Sounds about like the new exhaust on my big Sport. Pictures! Good. That's good news. "isn't a huge difference but a little, high end feels to rev easier" - that tells you that you didn't have a high end restriction. Which is what I keep harping on. The NA 3.0L and 3.5L both have adequate exhaust systems to start out with. Just tweaking the bottom a little. Keep us posted. BTW, if you disconnect the battery, pull the negative (or both) and leave it for at least 30 minutes. Edward
