What about drilling holes right where your thumb is on the bumper extension and mount it to that. Would that put it too high? Be able to clear the bumper? I haven't been prying under there since I added my fogs. Trying to visualize where everything is, but drawing a blank. Here is how it looks under the bumper... my 97's eliminate that extension, though that looks better than the tubular ones I saw at the yard. I think I'll just build a bumper I actually could leave the extension off. Guard mounts bolt between it and the frame end. As for the lift... Seems what most folks do on line... they mount the frame mounts normal. Then they make an extention (lift bracket) that goes between the mounting points of the frame bracket and actual guard... So thats an idea?! Just have to make it strong enough...

So i woke up in the middle of the night and could not fall back asleep... so where does my mind go? Why to figuring thru the sports issues... that will give you insomnia!!! Anyway... my mind settled on the grille guard for some reason... i was debating what i should do to the brackets to lift them to match the 2 inch lift, like the previous pic i posted... where was i going to get thick plate steel like that pic. I debated pulling brackets off another suv i had seen at the yard. I could use its brackets as donor steel. Then i felt guilty... lol... so i thought about an old bumper mount hitch plate i took off our truck when i got the under body hitch... then i remembered... my uncle had this old metal sharpener he had rigged up and left when they moved...of course i grabbed it... The base was some heavy steel plate... I could cut out the corner and it would still be plenty heavy and strong. So I measured it a few minutes ago. Bam!!! I found my plate!!!! Ok yes its gonna need some grinding and painting... but that should be plenty strong to bump me up that 2 inches without compromising too much strength. I can always get it welded to the bracket strenghten it further. Also grabbed some .25 thick angle bracket from his house that should work to raise the little upper verticle arm stabilizer... one mans junk saves anothers day!

But the mother load came in way of a working intact 4x4 shifter assembly... my fulcrum is bad and my shifter is held together with a hose clamp... 8) bad transmission shop broke it and slit the boot with a razor... Good boot... Mine... bad boot... completely cut free from metal bezel by the shop... yet thats where my heat issue came from... Good fulrum boot... Good fulcrum Could not get this plate off... ugh. Wanted it complete... but i got my broken parts...

Could not get this plate off... ugh. Wanted it complete... but i got my broken parts... You don't need that plate and you don't have to remove the one on your vehicle unless the ball disintegrated and fell down inside. Both peices are supposed to be sealed with sealant so the less you disassemble the better.

Lol... thats what was holding the junkyard beast's plate together.... and that poor sport was a rust bucket underneath... had to be a northern car. WOW! I had to steal a transfer case bracket bolt as one of mine is mia. Not going to use it its so rusted, but i will use it to match threads for a new one... my 1/2 inch breaker bar was even straining on that sucker...

I don't know if its the same grey, but that's what Mitsu used on the shifters and the front differential cover. Ouch! Yep, I've seen a couple like that from back east. Nasty! Edward

Yeah, I live 20 minutes from Canada in the NE corner of NY. I spend a ton of time every year trying to keep the rust in check. It is a hard fight, and 1 year of not doing it and blamo a car can go from perfect to holes through the frames here.

Yes I am still looking for taillight guards. Those still hanging out at the salvage yard Dirk? Were they in good shape? What would be the cost for you to pull them and ship them to me in NC? If in bad shape I may have to go the spray painted chrome route and buy BD's but I'd rather get some that are black so even if I touch them up with spray paint any flaking or chipping is less noticeable.

No salvage yards within 75 miles of me, red posted about finding a set in the salvage yard, I didn't. There was a set on Craigs list in NYC but that is like an 8+ hour drive 1 way for me not stoping.

Those i took for my rig... if i happen upon some others i will grab them... Been looking for years for those... those were the first i had seen. Same for the 4wd shifter... i have been looking on and off since i got the rig back on the road in 2012...
