I don't think that there is anything different for ride height or spring rates etc different. I know they will handle a little differently based off of weight distribution and obviously addition weight and rolling resistance etc.

I don't see why not. All the suspension components are in the same location. But don't quote me on that, I could be wrong.

Just make sure you order the correct rear springs, whether your year has leaf, or like mine a gen 2 with rear coils.

Mine has coils. I was reading your post and was wondering about how much extra was needed besides the kit. Did you end up getting the OME torsion bars?

I was wondering if there is a difference between the stock 4wd montero sport suspension and the stock 2wd montero sport suspension? any answers can help me out The suspension design is the same, between the 2WD and 4WD/AWD models. All the '97-99 Sports have front torsion bars and rear leaf springs and all the '00-04 Sports have front torsion bars and rear coil springs. AFAIK, there are no dimensional differences. Gen 1 2WD springs and torsion bars will interchange with 4WD springs and torsion bars, and likewise for the gen 2. That does not mean that the bars and springs have the same spring rate. While they may fit, they may not work otherwise. KIM that the 2WD models weigh significantly less than the 4WD models and a large portion of that difference is sprung weight. In your case you will probably need the lightest bars and springs they sell unless you're planning on adding 300-500 lbs of extra weight. Edward

I can't say. I don't know where OME/ARB starts out with their spring rates or what the OEM spring rates are. I would strongly suggest contacting OME and talking to their technical support. The thing with going from 4WD to 2WD is that not only does the GVW change, but the weight distribution changes. We could put the exact same springs in your gen 2 and my '03 AWD Limited 3.5L gen 2 and you'd get entire different behavior. Missing that honking huge t-case in the middle of the vehicle is going to shift the weight (horizontal balance point) forward a good bit, which in effect would make the same squishy feeling springs from my '03 feel stiffer in your Sport. As I said, I'd strongly suggest talking their tech support. I just don't have the numbers to make a good call on this. Edward

alright they emailed back, I quote, "It depends on the chassis; if the 2wd chassis is the same as the 4wd, with the exemption of the front axle, it's a good chance. We don't work on these vehicles much. I suggest Rocky Road Outfitters. They'd be better equipped too answer that and they sell our stuff too: www.rocky-road.com/index2.html . " And I believe the chassis are the same... but I think you all could answer that better. Now i've made a full circle haha I found the lift kit first at Rocky Road and saw the bad reviews and looked elsewhere... anyone know about their service?

Now i've made a full circle haha I found the lift kit first at Rocky Road and saw the bad reviews and looked elsewhere... anyone know about their service? I was afraid they'd say that. That's kind of the problem. Everyone builds stuff for 4WD upgrades, not 2WD. Anyone that sells ARB/OME can sell you the suspension stuff. If these guys seem a little shady and you think you might get something useful out of them, you might want to talk to them but not actually buy it there. I know that doesn't sound all that good, but I have shop here that I wouldn't take my vehicle to but they are a great source of info. So, just to make sure I have this right, they are assuming that anyone installing their stuff is doing it on something that was already a 4WD, and that's what they do all their development on is OEM 4WDs? I presume this would be the case but I learned long ago never to presume when it comes to car stuff. That information actually helps. Exactly what make and model (and engine) Sport do you have? I have a 2002 limited 3.5l Montero sport
Emailed the rocky road place gonna see what they say. I'm kinda hopeful that it works fine because it'd be nice to have that extra ride height and not sag as much. There's a lifted 2wd 4runner and he said it's an old man emu kit so I think it should work.

So Rocky Road outfitters said it would work perfectly.Mentioned that a few customers that also got it for 2wd and it works fine and they have a no complaints Using the Light load springs. So I guess I'll look into buying it soon. Thanks for the help guys hope you all got as much of a knowledge gain as I have!
