So I managed to snag up a rear view mirror with compuss and temperature features for pretty cheap. My MS never came with that option and do love that feature. My question is, is it a plug and play or do I need to go and buy the hole harness and everything the whole nine yards?

Nothe sure what years it was an option, and what year you have. But alot of the later models used one harness so they were ptewireged for extra options. You might have to get sensors, and fuses etc though. If you have the wires in your harness.

So I guess it's back to that junkyard to snag the sensor and the rest of the harness.

I have an '02 XLS and I'm missing the ambient air sensor since my wife smashed a deer in the bumper. My compass works fine but I get a "o/c" reading when I click for temp. Not sure if compass relies on something else but it definitely doesn't rely on ambient air sensor for my vehicle.

Temp sensor is zip tied to bumper support under radiator driver side

Temp sensor is zip tied to bumper support under radiator driver side okay cool I'll definitely check that out tomorrow at the junk yard. I saw one that had the temperature/compass rear view mirror and it hasn't been gutted out yet. So I will definitely snag that up before someone else. By chance do you have any information about what kind of fuse the system takes? I like to keep my electronics lol Do you know if the compass is built in to the mirror as well or is that in the temperature sensor as well? Sweet so I could hook it up tonight and do a test on the compass to make sure it works! I do appreciate all the help on getting this figured out. This is a vehicle I plan to have for a very long time.

So an update on this the compuss works well and I managed to snag a sensor for the temp gauge and got it all wired up and went to take the old mirror off and the piece that is glued to the windshield that holds the mirror on broke off. So now I am having to replace the windshield. Which kinda blows but at the same token I needed to replace it anyways. As far as wiring it all up I wired the power wire into the power wire of the radio so it's not constantly on and I'm using a 5a inline fuse on it. And I did noticed that there was a spot for the wires to come out to the rear view mirror from the overhead console, so that comfirms my conclusion. You can install a rear view mirror with compuss and temp features in a MS that didn't come with that feature. Once I get the windshield replaced (which should be here in the next week or two) I am gonna get it set up and get some pictures up to show the results. And after that it's on to replacing the window tint.

Where was the connector for the Mirror tucked away in the headliner? I cannot seem to find said connector, as the only 2 connectors seen when I remove the console are for the map lights, and the clock.

I found a the temp sensor with wiring mounted behind my front bumper. I guess I am assuming that the connector for the mirror is somewhere, otherwise why would I have the temp sensor? I have removed the upper console, and looked between the roof and headliner above the driver's side with no luck. I also pulled the panel between the dash and the headliner on the drivers side, and it's not there either. Does anyone have any suggestions on where else to look?

Going to do the same soon as I need a windshield also. As I recall when I had my headliner out, there were a bunch of wires up in the area in front of driver above headliner. I believe I pulled them to the overhead console area, or I hope so.
