Well.....after years I finally finished the swap! Only 3 of the reinforcement brackets left in the country. Works like a charm! Probably the only 3.5xs with a swingout anywhere....now it needs arb in the rear and it will be how Mitsubishi should have had offered them.

If you are hosting the pictures on your local PC and posting them they won't show for others, Did you upload them to photobucket or another web based photo sharing site?

Alright. I'll see if I can fix it. The pics are hosted on another site since this one won't allow dorect uploads.

I love it, custom, yet stock. Unless I get a donor vehicle with the tire carrier, I probably will never be able to do this? and how hard was it to do to complete?

Honestly it was surprisingly easy. Fitting the reinforcements in the quarter panel was a bit of a pain but not impossible and cutting the rear bumper to exactly match the latch also took some doing but wasn't hard by any means.
For the gate trim, you only need to splice a couple of wires and drill a few hidden holes.
Definitely worth while and doable over a weekend without too much effort.
You need a donor for several of the parts unless you want to pay for new Mitsu parts with varying availability.
Wish I would have done it years ago. I'm not sure how much longer I'll have the Sport but this modification sure is handy.

Let's resurrect this old thread for fun 🤷‍♂️.
I like inexpensive and reasonably easy DIY solutions to the Factory- non installed options. Thanks to McGee for your legwork with this projectđź‘Ť. So,, how's about the details?? Like,, a) what vehicle is the carrier from, w/ all the essential parts/ hardware? b) the installation process w/ details and pics. c) total cost ? These points would be great to share, for us cheap/resourceful folks on a budget. Thanks for your help, G.
