Hello everyone, Have been lurking this forum for the last 6 months or so as I've been fixing up my Monty. Has been a wealth of knowledge and has allowed me to fix almost everything. That said, I am stumped on this one little issue. When driving with my headlights on the light in my glove box is always on even when the door is closed. Is that normal? I found the post linked below and someone mentions a switch. However, when I looked around I couldn't find the switch anywhere. Does anyone know if the switch exists and if so where its located? Driving me crazy! Thank you. -Nick msport97.proboards.com/thread/3185/glove-compartment-lightEdit: I have a 2002 Montero Sport XLS 4wd

From what I read elsewhere, it's normal for the glove box light to be on when the headlights are on. Just looked at my '02 MS XLS and couldn't find any switch either. The bulb in mine has been blown since I got it, so never even knew it existed. The owners manual doesn't even mention the glove box bulb, nor a fuse for it.

So it turns out there is a switch in some trucks. Mine has one and I was able to find one at the yard the other day just as a backup. All of the other trucks I had checked previously at the yard didn't have one which led to my confusion. I guess the bracket has been bent back over time as the glove box was opened and closed so many times. Because of this the switch wasn't getting depressed far enough to trigger the light to go off. I added a bit of material to that little bump out molded into the glovebox to help it reach the switch. Works fine now.

That looks like something that was added on by a previous owner. I've got a 2000 and '03; neither have anything like that.
