Hello everyone. I have a 99 MS with the factory air locker and I’m experiencing the locker randomly shutting off. When in 4WD, I press the locker button and it engages (despite the light on the dash blinking) but will disconnect anywhere between secs to 10+ mins. It turns off quicker if I’m in situation where I need it (like crawling), but stays on much longer when going a bit faster. I put it on the lift at work and the locker works fine. Thoughts, suggestions or ideas??

Is it staying in 4 wheel drive. Could be the solenoid clutch judging by your other post. If the 4x4 light is flashing the 4 wheel drive isn’t engaging or the electronics are saying it’s not. There’s possibly a switch on the rear diff with yours for the diff lock. Not to familiar with the factory lockers however but it is my understanding you can’t use it unless in 4Lo. Other possibilities are the air compressor or a leak.

I checked yesterday at work and I can hear the rear diff lock compressor turn on about every 50-60 seconds...just for a second or two. It seems like a weird setup...rubber air line from pump to steel fitting in rear diff. I replaced this rubber hose. A 2nd rubber hose going from pump to round crossmember in the rear. Diff breather rubber hose going to same crossmember. I’m afraid I might have a leak inside the rear diff 😒 Also, I found a broken wire at the left leaf spring, which fixed my blinking R/D Lock light.
