Have you checked to see how much better the departure angel is?
How much does it weigh?
I see your mud flaps look as good as mine do. ;D

Well, actually we had kicked around the idea of making a few more, but we want to do a little testing first and then figure out how much we'd need to charge to put more together. Kevin and I are both mechanical engineering students at UNM so we're going to beat on it with our calculators for a while and do some more testing to see how good it really is. We should have a yea or nea on building more very soon. If anyone else is interested let me know and that will help us deside if it's going to be economicaly feasable to build more. We also want to finish the rock skids and safari rack too so if anyone is making a wish list for their sports let me know.

My wish list definitely has the rock skids and safari rack on it. But as you know I want to go the aluminum rout. Hey again! Next phase is just about done. We've got the bumper mounted tire carrier all but finished. I decided to go with the rock stomper hinge. Turned out to great. Easy to use, bombproof, works perfectly. We did it out of 1.5"Diameter, 1/8" wall tubing (picts to come soon) with provisions for up to a 33" tire (can go bigger, but will start to block bumper, lights...) and a blitz can holder. Decided to mount the high lift up on the safari rack (see next paragraph) instead of on the bumper. It looks great and I cant wait to get it dirty and see how it holds up. The safari rack is designed and cut and is just awaiting paint and mounting on the truck. This one was a source of headache, but we finally got something planed out that’s gona work out well. It's going to mount between the thule cross bars which are mounted at the extreme for and aft positions (52 inches apart). It will also have a "shelf" that hangs out over the rear bar about 14 inches extending just far enough back to not interfere with the lift gate. Just for strength I added "feet" in the middle edges of the rack to prevent it sagging in the middle under load between the thule bars. I figure it will be safe to load it up to about 250 lbs for highway and extreme off road travel and higher for very short trips to the hardware/garden store. Both are made from steel like the bumper as aluminum is just out of my price budget for this project. Again, I'll have to picts up on the site soon as I can go coheres my dad out of his digital camera again. Chris in New Mex
