I finally found the right MAF adapter plate at O'reilys, hooked up the cold air filter and it runs and sounds awesome! The only thing I need to fix is mounting it to something, it just kinda lays there Anyone have any ideas of where to mount it?

I bought a "L" shelving bracket from Home Depot. I think it's the 6" one. That package in the top left corner of the picture is a Spectre Air Intake bracket kit. I just bought it off Amazon.com and will try it soon.

thats awesome! I didnt even think about that, obviously. I will get one tomorrow, definitely puts some pics up with the new bracket. Did you have a little trouble bolting the MAF adapter to the MAF?

I just needed longer screws for the MAF adapter. Once I had those it was fine.

I bought 1.5 inch bolts and they are just barley long enough, I think I am going to change to at least a 2" bolt with that bracket

You can see my screws poking out of the MAF. I want to say they were 2", but maybe they were 2.5". I bought another chrome piece off amazon for the MAF itself. It probably won't work, but I have to try. My check engine light came on when I first installed mine, but the MAF corrects itself so the light turned off shortly after.

Think about adding a shield around the filter too.. I took it to the extreme and built a canister around it and suck air from just under the front of the hood.. The 2nd gens apparently suck air from the passenger fender well by default I've thought about drilling a hole into the pocket to get some cooler cleaner air, just haven't gotten around to it.

I was thinking about doing something like that but I like the look of the exposed filter, I wanna build a box/shield and route a tube from the open end to cooler air

That's what I did. Minus the metal guard. I used an l bracket too.

Good job man!!! It's been to cold here for me to mess with the Spectre bracket kit I got off amazon.com, but it looks like it'll work. But I think the "L" bracket will be a better, stronger, and cheaper alternative.

Yeah it definitely looks better and a little more legit, I would be interested in possibly buying the bracket if it looks legit

Its too bad K&N don't make kits for us MS fellas. My buddy and I did a K&N diesel cold air install and box replacement on his 6.6 duramax, pretty neat, had a clear bolt down cover over the box and it already sucked air from the outside so it was all good!
I tried building a metal box and failed pretty miserably! If you come up with a good solution let us know (pictures!) how it turns out.
