2000 Montero Sport ES
This model does not come with fog lights and I made a post about this a while back and was told that there should be a connector somewhere behind the fog light grilles that I could then hook some up. I've been unsucessful in finding these wires..is there some place that I might not be looking?..and does this model for sure come with a connector?
If I'm somehow able to find where to plug these in..I'm also interested in buying some fog lights (preferrably with the cut black grilles) for hopefully a cheap price.
Let me know, thanks!

You could get a set and then wire them to where you turn them on or off. I am thinking about doing it to my MS

A set of 100 watt lights from autozone is 45.00. I use them a lot.

darkside:
Are the two montero sports in your profile the same one? If so, did you paint the chrome around your grille and headlights?

Hi I just saw your question about fog light connectors and if you're still looking for it; pull the grill and follow the horn cable down and to the RIGHT side of the car just inboard of the towing bracket you will find a brown 2 wire plug for the additional harness.
I've just put together a kit list from Mistubishiparts.com to install the lights on my 2003 Montero Sport XLS 3.5
1. Fog Light Bracket LH MR482497 2. Fog Light Bracket RH MR482498 3. Fog Light Harness MR502465 4. Fog Lamp Switch MR227719 5. Fog Lamp Relay 588567
If it works it will have cost me about $200 including shipping from NJ.
Got it all installed and it looks and works great straight out of the box; and its all factory which I really wanted. Now all I have to do is polish up the headlight lenses so they actually project light and I'm quids in.

In my honest opinion, I think it would be best to do the job yourself. Remember you also have to locate the connector for the switch inside the cab.. Factory fog lights are usually.. bleh. If you are going for aesthetics then fine, but for function they don't usually compare to a good set of aftermarket lights. Aftermarket lights (most of the time) run a higher wattage, which in turn create more current running through the wires which are probably 12-14 gauge, coming from the relay. More current through smaller wires creates heat, which melts, then shorts wires (possibly). Here is a pretty good example of a wiring diagram. It shows the switch, and the relay wiring. Make sure you use the largest "gauge" (the smaller the number, the larger the wire) wires you can, but never any smaller than the manufacturer recommends. Also, always remember to install the fuse as close to the battery as possibly. The fuse protects all the wiring in case of a "short" or excessive current draw.

If your truck came pre-wired then the connector should be in the center of the grill bumper area taped to the harness. When you install the lamps you have to buy a sub harness that runs to the fog lamps. Mitsu sells the kit for a ridiculous amount of money. you could grab some from a wrecking yard or install aftermarket lamps.

Ok received the fog lights. They look like the real deal. I was wondering if anyone had the part numbers for the half grills that go next to the lights. Thanks in advance.

MR496691 and MR496692 are the part numbers but I would call and give your vin to be certain because when selected without a vin it brings up both grills.

Ocmonteroguy, I have the prewire on mine. It's a 2003 MS XLS. Sometimes the dealer that originally shipped it to the US opted for the prewire so they could add in the option if a buyer wanted it. So some may have it and others don't. I was able to locate my prewire. All I had to do was add the fog lamps, brackets and bezel. Then get the relay and interior switch. Found everything at a junk yard for about $40 bucks except the switch. That was $55 at the dealer. It's all OEM and looks great.
