Maybe, but the circuit board is remarkably clean in there. No visible dust or corrosion, but will try that next time I'm in.

Weird, the only other thing is it might be a bad circuit pathway. But in order to fix that you would have to yank out the whole thing...

I was thinking it might be a break in the circuit at the shifter.

Does anyone know how or where that signal is triggered at the shifter? I'd like to check that area for continuity while I'm back on the project.

iirc there is a wire but might be just for the lighting. Also a cable for the shift interlock. I was looking for a ground but is was awhile ago. Need start taking pictures of stuff as I pull it apart.

Hello, I had the same problem with the D light. I went through the same change bulb with a known good one (from a position that was lighting up minutes before) but could not get it to work. A friend of mine has a Challenger just like mine and we recently bought a third one together to use as parts donor. I took the entire istrument cluster from that one and lo and behold, all the tranny position lights are now working. As a side effect, did you know that the mileage of the care is recorded in the dash? Mine is now "younger with about 40K kilometers Regards, Levy

Well that answers my question of whether or not they retain mileage after swapping gauges. I would be careful with that however, in the states that is highly frowned upon.

Yes I thought about dropping in a used panel to see if that would cure the missing light, and it looks like it would, but as you discovered, the vehicle mileage is stored in the panel.

I removed my 01 dash panel with 156k and installed a 02 panel with 173k I can read the 02 silver/white panel better and I recorded the difference in mileage for accuracy. If its above 100k in my state its doesn't matter.

Anyone notice if it's feasible to keep the same odometer on the new cluster. A little soldering wouldn't be a big deal as long as it is a separate piece from the main board.

Definitely something to look into. If I can find one for cheap I'll tear it down and see. Maybe at the very least I can swap the faces.

I found a bunch on eBay a while back. Cheapest one was about $34. Let me know how that goes if you wind up doing it.

Was wondering the same thing deviate. dc, on a positive note the speedo and the odo is a separate piece as well as the other gauges according to the service manual.
