2002 Montero Sport, 6G74, ~115k miles.
Tried to start it the other day, turned the key, nothing. Did not hear the solenoid click, but did hear a slight click in the starter relay with a "buzzing" sound. Tried a few times, no luck. Checked pins 1 and 3 of the relay socket. key off, no voltage. Key on or in start position, 11 volts.
Vehicle is now starting fine. Had this problem once before. Known or common issue? Ignition switch?

Happened again yesterday. Put it in neutral, and it started right off. Starting to think the transmission interlock switch is faulty.

Try cleaning your battery terminals. Remove the white stuff in there and tighten the terminal screws.
That solved my starting issues.

Started happening again. Battery terminals are fine, no other issues. In all cases, shifting in to neutral fixes the issue.

That's precisely what I'm replacing right now.. sounds like what you were dealing with a few years ago.
