Cool mod on the chrome parts! I went the opposite on mine, It was all black (ES) and got me chrome bezels and grille after doing the two tone.
Is it too hard to open the headlights? I would love to open mine to clean/fix a bit of the chrome from one of them due to cheap bulbs overheating (previous owner)
Great to see you and your wife are going on the right path after those incidents you suffered.

It isn't hard opening the headlights...I have done several sets prior including black housing my old 95 Galant, wifes old 99 Galant, and my jdm headlights on my 7th gen Galant which had the same "bronze" housings like the Montero Sports.
Easiest way is to bake them in the oven method but when the sealant heats up it leaves a strong smell that lingers for several days and with my wife using the oven alot, that wasn't a option for me this time around. I used a heat gun and heated where the housing and outer lens join and slowly pry them apart. Its a more time consuming and tedious method but works well. WHen you put them together just reheat the sealant again so its soft and assemble the housing and outer lens together and apply a good amount of force and heat to create a good seal again and you are done.

Well I'm glad she is doing better. Your galant looks slick. Very clean I must've missed that post about it.

Scored a awsome deal on a 6 month old roof basket. Desperate kid had this on his Honda accord and needed the cash, he wanted $110 for it and told him I could get it brand new on Amazon for that price especially when he disclosed it was missing some hardware and we agreed on a price of $80. Met up with the kid at his house and it was everything he said EXCEPT the broken wind deflector. I showed displeasure and started to "walk away from the sale" and he offered the "What would you pay for it then?". I would pay $50-60 but lowballed him for negotiation purposes of $40...and he agreed with no hesitation. Contacted Curt products to see how much to purchase a new hardware mounting kit and air deflector and got a email from a rep that they are sending me both free of charge. So WIN for me...going to take it apart and repaint the roof basket while I wait for the new mounting hardware and wind deflector. I am also going to take the opportunity to repaint the sunfaded roof rack and crossrails and most likely do a video tutorial on it.

I let the rails and crossbars and roof basket cure for 2 days before installing them but pretty happy with the finished product considering it was rattle can. I also made a tutorial on how to remove the roof rail and cross bars for 97-2000 Montero sports on YouTube.

Good job on the painting, I do agree with the window visors, I always disliked the ones that are glued to the doors. It damages the paint and looks awful.

Dude that is an A++ job on the carbon fiber wrapping! You should have done a tutorial on that! My rear lens is cracked too, I plastidipped it then over sprayed it with can bedliner spray to texture it and sort of match my rhinolined rockers. I think the extra heat absorption caused the cracks to get larger, gotta find the time to get to a pull a part and track down a replacement or bite the bullet and get one off eBay. How hard was it to get the Mitsubishi letters off and back on?

Thank you. I highly suggest you get a heat gun if you plan to vinyl wrap because areas that aren't flat require some heating of the vinyl to properly stretch and bend to stick on the surface w/o any binding of the vinyl and wrinkles. As for the Mitsubishi letters...they don't come off, they are molded into the garnish. Basically I just cut the vinyl and laid it over the letters and heated them with the heat gun and pressed the edges gently with a flathead and then with patience and a sharp blade or exacto knife just cut to shape. Summer is here and it gets pretty damn hot here in FL and w/o tint the a/c works hard to keep the interior cool so I decided to tint the rig. Did 15% tint all around with a windshield strip....its amazing the difference tint does and worth the $$. Installed the WeatherTech vent visors and the Curt roof basket and this is the current look.

I didn't think those letters came off, that takes some patience and a steady hand with a sharp blade. Rig is looking nice, did you not already have the factory tint? Mine is factory tint except the front two windows, they are 32%, the legal limit up here in NC for my fronts. I've considered throwing some tint over the factory to black out the back, but already don't like the difference between the tint as is and that would make it an even more noticeable difference.

Factory tint is just dyed glass...don't really provide UV reflective benefits that high quality film tint can which Lumar, 3M, etc provide. I actually made a typo ...rear glass was only 15% and the front doors and windshield tint was a little darker to "match" the tint darkness all around since the factory rear glass is darker than the front doors.
