Went by today, both those are gone. They only keep them 90 days Oh, dang! Well, you were sure that one of them came out of a '98, right? That one is for sure correct. If the other is identical, then I expect both are correct. Let me know what you want to do. Edward

Compared it to a 97 auto 4x4 and its differant, sorry. I talked to the tech about this today. He says there are two different pans. There is a TSB out there somewhere about a pan upgrade/replacement for the Sport. Deeper sump pan apparently. The two pans use different dipsticks, but he thought the fill tubes are the same. That makes no sense to me. The depth of the pan has nothing to do with the fill level of the fluid. The fill level stays the same so the tube and dipstick could remain the same between the two. He ALSO thinks that the deeper pan uses the metal blade style like the one with the dipstick you're showing in the picture. So, you may have found one with the TSB upgrade. He did say that the '97, '98 and MAYBE early '99s with the AW4 used the cable style dipstick. And, yes, the newer Mitsu A/T like I have in the '99 uses the metal blade style. Edward

And then, the JP vehicles are not necessarily the same as the same model US vehicles. Keeping track of what's what on what vehicle model is difficult. Edward

Interesting thread. I need that tube bracket/hanger in your last pic. The brackets on the tubes, A/T or engine oil, are welded onto the tube. Edward

Ya already bought and installed that intake stay I needed per the other running thread. You know I replaced my Auto Transmission filter when I pulled the pan and replaced the A/T fluid. The black plastic filter I bought actually had an extended intake tube that didn't match my old filter, and even though it bolted up perfectly I couldn't get the pan back on. Had to saw the tube off to get it to work. I think it was a filter for one of those deeper pans, like 3/4" deeper. But my dipstick looks just like that last photo.

The tech said the tube and dipstick are the same for both the regular and deep sump pans. The filter stuff, though, may be different. I never asked him about that. Edward

Yeah, the vendor I bought the filter from swore it was correct, and it was... except for that intake tube. It must have been for the deeper pan because it fit the tranny perfectly. Just couldn't put the pan back on!
