Whew! Cause i was panicked thinking i missed it and had kinked my lines or worse... lol redraif: Is the Gates 24716 the correct size? I was looking at the pic and it looks like the hose is too big. The 24716 is 1 3/4". The 24715 is 1 1/2" Eeak! Definitely not enough thread engagement. Edward

I got the next size down and could not it it on the larger end.... so for the small side i cranked it down really well with a hose clamp. It has been on nearly a year and is holding just fine. Im sure you could cut the factory hose to use as a spacer and fit the new hose over the old. I just didnt want to mess up the original. I will replace with a longer one when I swap the bushings.... with 250,000 they need a refreshing anyway...

I just wanted to make sure. I replaced the tank in the big Sport back in '05, but its been so long since I did that I couldn't remember for sure. I THOUGHT I remembered that the ends were different size, but .... If that wasn't reinforced hose, I'd be a little skeptical. I blew the pic up as much as I could to get a really good look at where the clamp meets the hose. There MIGHT be a problem some day, but seeing as that's not pressurized .... As long as the clamp is tight and not overtightened, if there's any issue with the clamp cutting into the hose it's going to be a LONG way down the road. No pun intended, of course. Yea, THAT needs to be addressed pretty soon. Those nyloc nuts aren't a very high grade. You're not 'wheeling it so you don't have to worry about the added stress of that but it won't take long before the threads go. Edward

Was that a 6 inch bolt you used that was too short? Just wondering b4 I install mine in spring if I should just pick up a longer one now. Currently I have 10 of the 6 inch grade 8s

Dirk all mine were the same length... get 2 an inch or so longer and you will be good.

Why all the extra nuts and hardware... Is it really that dangerous considering that is actually the 2nd nut on the bolt?

Why all the extra nuts and hardware... ?? What do you mean? No, no, not dangerous. There's a lot more stress on body mounts and those bolts and nuts than most people think. There's so little thread engagement that the stress will strip the threads out of the nut, off the bolt or both. Then it just turns into a big PITA to fix. Sorry, didn't mean to 'scare' you. Edward

.... truncated ... mid body there is one funky mount, can't remember if it is 3 or 4... will have to crawl under to verify... Its right by the fuel filter... It has a large circular metal piece. I'm not sure what it is for exactly. It used an additional washer and bolt. all together prior to disassembly took of the first bolt...and this came off this was what remained on the body... you can see the fuel filter extra hardware... the huge washer like thing!

I take it you recievd your kit from. 4 crawl? Link to your write up red? Just got my personal pc back up and running this past weekend, so a real write up will come soon... but for now check my previous post... but here is my research thread with links to the kit I put together and info on the fasteners... msport97.proboards.com/thread/10739/montero-sport-body-suspension-needed?page=1important stuff... I opted to purchase my lift blocks from Summit. A. Summit is local and B.I do not have a drill press to accurately make my own. I was looking at the toyota kit, but it was on back order till 1/19/15. So no go there. I wanted to do the lift over the Holiday. So instead I went with the individual body blocks, as they were in stock. For a total of 10 mounts on the 2001 Montero Sport: 6 of the 3inch diameter to go under the cab (A, B & C-Pillers) BB02 (2 H x3 OD) @ $9.97 www.summitracing.com/parts/pra-bb024 of the 2 inch diameter for the nose and tail mounts. Part numbers MB02 (2 H x2 OD) @ $7.97 www.summitracing.com/parts/pra-mb02 I then searched online and found a cheaper price. Summit will price match BTW. Truckprousa.com had them for $4.99 (bb02) truckprousa.com/i-6726582-performance-accessories-replacement-body-lift-spacer-bb02.html and $3.99 (mb02) truckprousa.com/i-6726548-performance-accessories-replacement-body-lift-spacer-mb02.html = $45.90 plus $14.70 SH to my door. Total $60.60 So Summit did the price match (factored in the shipping as if I ordered from Truckpro). The final price was $59.00 plus local taxes. So my initial cost of 91.70 plus tax went down to $59.00 plus tax... NOT bad. and they were in stock! So I took it slow and easy. 2 days later and had them installed. (cleaning under and interior, plus 5 hours of hardware locating.... lots of thieving has happened of grade 8 bolts at the local stores. I had to go to 4 stores before I had enough.)

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but it is a very important well written one. Now that temps have gone from 100+ 95% humidity straight to 50's with rain. I was hoping for a couple weeks in the 70's maybe time to get started on body lift. Have we found a source for longer brake lines? or does anyone know the sizes required? This is worse than 100+,a nasty time to be in a muddy junkyard pulling brake hoses.

Just make sure they're DOT compliant. I didn't do a lot of looking at Wilwood's site, but I think I found the right fitting size for the fronts a few months ago. I like their lines so might be something to check into. Edward

Spoke with a knowledgeable sounding fellow today local. And think I will go with stainless if not too pricey. Up at the ranch they have rolls of stainless hose and fittings. May just run up and grab some.

xpajun.com/That is where I ordered mine, correct ends etc, But the European Mitsu's used metal lines for the for the axle to caliper lines. I had to contact them again with the info for length, connectors etc for those 2. But I replaced all the rubber lines on mine, they are super durable, look good. I also Finally found a supplier for brand new forged calipers that are zinc plated. I just ordered and replaced my rear calipers. I have replaced them 4 times on one side, 5 on the other with reman's in the last 5.5 years. I am hoping these hold up well.
