Remember when swapping speakers the stock wires upfront have built in crossovers so of adding a second crossover it can mess with the sound stage. I can't remember for sure now, but I believe I wasn't getting any signal off my factory tweeter wires so I jumped off the door speaker wire. That's good info though, next time I pop my door panels off I will see where I got my source from, if I did go off the factory tweeter wires that could explain the terrible sound I'm getting from the tweeters. Do the crossovers exist as long as you have the factory tweeters or is it only if you have the infinity system? I don't have the infinity system in mine.

To the best of my knowledge I don't have an infinity stereo system, was only 2 way up front no mids, and didn't see an infinity symbol on anything I removed. Both my tweeter, and my 6.5 woofer wires had built in crossover, capacitors and resistors were part of the wires themselves. If branched off after the mid output and sending it to the tweet could also mess with the sound. A lot of variablessed to eliminate. That's why I like to just run fresh heavier Guage wire from amp to drivers.

When I get to the point of installing new door speakers and a 4 channel amp I do plan on running fresh wire to the speakers, will definitely have to take notice of the caps and resistors in the wiring next time I'm in there though. Is it wrapped in the protective tape or just before the speakers? Whenever my wife had the door speakers installed years ago they just hacked off the factory speaker connectors and used the harness that came with the speakers.

I went with a Pioneer AVH-1330NEX. It fits very well: I used this Wiring Harness to enable usage of the factory Infinity amp and speakers: The resulting sound quality is fantastic.
