Hello, I own and wheel an '96 gen 2 RHD Challenger, 2.8TD. I was thinking about upgrading the "gearing" in the transfer case. I saw a while (waaay back) someone mention here that they used a t-case adapter and then exchanged the entire t-case with one that has better gearing for low range (but I cannot find the thread right now). But all that discussion was about a gas 3.0 or 3.5 engine. Mine is a diesel. The only product that I found that promises to be more or less plug and play, is this www.marks4wd.com/low-range-overdrive-gears/paj-gen2-2-7a.html. Yet this one is about/for 3.0/3.5L gas engines. Can anyone tell me if the t-case gearing in a 3.0 or 3.5 is the same as in my 2.8TD? Then if this turns out to be suitable my my truck (and I get the cash together), should I go with 2.7:1 or 3.1:1 upgrade (actually reduction)?

I believe you are refering to the Aisin trans we here used 97-98. supposedly a jeep 3/1 case can be used in place of our 2/1 case. Might use search tab.
