I need to replace the front heater core for my '03 Sport, but am not having any luck when searching around the net. Found plenty of rear heater cores, but no front ones (none that are in stock, anyway). Anyone know where to get one?

I once searched for days, I even called the dealership but they've been discontinued. what's wrong with the one you've got? Is it leaking from the rad itself or the metal tubing at the top of the radiator? If it's the tubing, I believe you can swap the metal tubing on top with another set of metal tubes from another radiator.

Seeing the 'discontinued' word time and time again didn't give me much confidence in finding a new one. Mine is leaking inside onto the carpet, so I'm pretty sure it's in the radiator itself. I'll remove it and see how bad it is; perhaps it can be repaired. Problem is, the previous owner neglected to do any maintenance on the cooling system, so there was lots of corrosion within the system. Hoping that the heater core isn't too far gone, but the chances are good that it's ruined.

If you do find one it will more than likely be overpriced. If I were you I would find a good quality aftermarket one. Part number is MR958598 for cross reference. As for the corrosion run some thoroflush through it, just beware it’s strong stuff.

Within a few minutes I found several that were supposedly in stock, but the prices are around $250, some are $300+. Yikes!

Yea that’s crazy considering what it is. Technically you could use any core that fit the space and connections. Nothing more than a mini radiator.

Did you ever find an oem unit for a reasonable price? No, not a reasonably-priced one. Still looking around online though and also waiting for one to show up in the local junkyards.

Thanks for the link, but it's similar to what I've been finding everywhere else (see circled area):

Thanks for the link, but it's similar to what I've been finding everywhere else (see circled area): The fitment note for A/C models may only apply to the tubing which looks like it's removable, you may be able to swap the tubing with the one of your own heater core.

Yea some of those aftermarket ones that are less than 100 concern me. One of the auto part stores has one for 160 which looks promising.
As for the pipes, they are connected with clamps so unless they were brazed together during production you should be able to swap them over, as long as the cores themselves are the same size.

Agree, that's a lot of work to do just to install a cheapo China-made heater core, so will stay away from those deals. Want to buy a good one so that this job will never have to be repeated any time soon. Where did you find the 160 one at? Thanks for the confirmation on the pipes.

Think it was advanced auto. That one could be a cheap Chinese one as well. Didn’t think to look at the country of origin.
