Q- My windshield wipers stopped working or stopped intermittantly in mid-stroke. What could be the problem?
A- Out of just about all of the cases i've seen, it was basically due to a faulty ground in the wiper motor circuit. The ground cable to the wiper motor is grounded through the wiper motor mounting bolts on the firewall. Usually, all it takes is removing and resecuring the mounting bolts (esp the one with the cable) to get everything working again. This will basically restore the ground circuit to the wiper. Give it a shot!
Q- One of my wiperblades has fallen out of sync with the other and sometimes fails to wipe even though the other side works as normal. What is the problem?
A- Sometimes the nut at the wiper arm base can loosen over time allowing the arm to slip against the motor crank. Pop up the base cover and retorque the nut to roughly 17ft/lbs. The same can happen to the rear wiper arm in which case you'd have to realign it in its resting position. If you look closely at the rear window defrost grid, you'll see the "landing" area where the wipers should sit at rest between the grid. Put it in this position before torquing it down. Good Luck!
Q- The headlamps of my 00- 04 Montero Sport seems to be aimed a bit too high. I keep getting flashed with the highbeams of oncoming cars when driving at night. How do i adjust my headlamps?
A- Contrary to what has been said in the forum, the headlamp CAN be aimed in your 2nd Generation (00-04) Sport. Here is an illustration of what the adjustment points are:
Note the illustrations are showing the BACK of each headlamp assy.
Good Luck!
