Something I just learned the other day is that some sports have an issue with the connection for the alternators exciter wire. Look at the fuse box from the driver side fender, look for the 100A fuse in the far right corner of the fuse box, below on the side of the fuse block, you will see a bolt with the exciter wire attached to it. Check for corrosion or a loose connection.

When I changed the alternator on my sport I had this fuse pop and melt the plastic around it. I was driving to school when it started to die and I had to leave it in a parking lot and tow it to a electrical shop to install a bracket for the fuse. Crazy stuff. My sport has been giving me troubles ever since I owned it but I still try to treat her good lol.

Tell me about it, it's been one issue after another and I spend a lot of time and money to try and stay ahead of the curve. I've learned to stop saying "I think I'm finally good for awhile" because I say those words and BAM! something goes wrong. I still love it so I wash/wax regularly and I'm still fixing it up. I keep saying one day it'll be like new.

I understand ur pain. I’ve a new engine installed, the transmission rebuilt, the suspension rebuilt, and it needs a paint job since the hood and roof is pretty bad. Rn the only trouble I have with the truck is I’m chasing a damn p0305 for two years already(pretty insane). Also the transmission is also making quite a lot of noise so I’m a have to take it back to the mechanic. I also think in my head that one day all this headache and troubles I sometimes go through will be worth it in the end once my sport is nice and fixed and looking new. Maybe one day🙃

I'm currently chasing an elusive P0136 that's been tanking my gas mileage. Can't seem to figure it out, always an interesting time with these it seems.

Well I found the two accessory 12V ports had a blown fuse #16, so replaced it and a few day later it blew again. Could a short in that wiring cause it to blow?

Hmm yea that’s interesting. Did you do anything different prior to it blowing. I know the one under the armrest was notorious for catching coins and shorting out. If there’s a wire grounding out it would have the same affect. Theoretically that could slowly drain the battery as well as long as it doesn’t pull enough current to blow the fuse. Try leaving it out and see if the battery maintains a charge.
