looks pretty good and is a good way to keep the hot air from the engine out of the intake. If you want to take it a step further you could reuse the S shaped pipe that ran from the inner fender to the stock box (if you had one, the 3.5 does) I fabed a air scoop 4" deep on the left side and 1' deep onn the right about 10" long and 5" tall with a hole cut in the top right corner. I them placed the S shaped tube through the hole in the core support from the outside. Stuck the other end of the tube in the hole in the top of the scoop and mounted the box to the bar that runs just above the bumper and sealed all the openings. I have pics if you want to see them. If you did this and connected it to your intake you would have a ram Air intake that could draw more air than the inlet you currently have and for water to get in it would have to go uphill to do so. Dont know what that would do to the MAS though.

Yea pics would be great, what I have set-up is basically what came stock on my 3.0, minus the box in place of the canister for the square air filter.
I thought about drilling into my fender well, but decided against it as its more sealed than sucking air through the hood, thus I was thinking it would be even more strain on the intake.
Although, my eventual plan is to solidify my canister setup, and my whole intake system and hopefully get a custom snorkel going!
I've been reading up a website I found of a guy who used chicken wire to make the basic frame then fiberglassed the outside, pulled the chicken wire out and voila! custom made intake for like $50 total (+$60 for the special water free snorkel top...non-custom.)

I will try to dig them out. It would be eaiser to e-mail them if you pm me with your address. Do you not have a ~ 2.5" hole in your core support on the passenger side?

Nope, no holes larger than what the bolts went through to hold the original system in place, like I mentioned earlier I held off creating any holes until I decide to make my snorkel system (if that ever happens, lol)

Must have been a revision the made with the 2ND gen. I saw a 99 at the shop with that intake tube. It seems mitsu just cut the horn off of the "S" pipe when they revised the air box intake and moved it to the passenger fender well. I was pleased to see the hole in my firewall when I modded mine!

LAme.... Well, maybe I can just make a hole on the inner fender then and if I ever get around to my snorkel design I can make another hole on the outer fender.

Strangely enough I got the idea from some aluminum flashing I saw in my garage. So I went out and got a roll of 10inch? 8 inch? aluminum flashing from the place I work (Home Depot) NOT AN Advertisement! I'm leaving there soon lol. The spike part was cut from part of a boxed ventilation rectangle from Menards. I riveted the flashing together and sealed with ducT tape (different from ducK tape). then sliced a hole in the bottom of the roll and made a smaller tube on the bottom to connect to the stock intake tube. An idea that I wanted to do, but couldn't is use an old paint can and make neccesary cuts to fit in the filter. It would make a much better design, much more air/water tight than mine. O! almost forgot, the clamp holding the spiked part to the actual tube is just a pipe clamp (5-7 inch I believe)

very nice, i should be recieving my accord intake next week, im going to buy the 15 dollar heat shield to put around it to protect from engine heat or ill buy the K&N universal intake pipe to clamp around the filter, run the hose down in the bumer grille and get a square inlet duct to suck straight from bumper and being lower than the filter, shouldnt suck up any water

Very nice 98panda, I like the black tube you got a hold of, looks slick. Also very, very nice engine bay, clean as a whistle (from what I can see that is) No matter how hard I try, mine always gets dirty again.
No worries cwic, ditto on the busy!

Rock on with the 5spd! Yea, same here. You are one of the 2nd people I've actually known with a maunal MS. Crazy... That red dust never comes off, one of my friends was a wrangler out west this summer in Kremmling, CO. He thought he had a tan, only to wash off all the dust a few weeks later! lol or you meant the actual clay chunks..either way Have you replaced the clutch yet?
