Just ordered some MT tires for my rig and should have them put on friday. After a bunch of research I went with the Firestone Destination MT. They look great and they rated very high for off road, ice, snow, and hwy.

Those sound like some good tires! I used to install them on customer's vehicles when I worked at Tires Plus, always fun to move around and stock when we got them in...especially the bigger ones

just got them installed today and they look awesome..... but they are rubbing. I did some minor trimming and it helped but with a full turn or slight turn on a bump it rubs pretty good. I have a 2" lift with a torsion crank but I could only get about an 1.25" out of my driver side but my passenger side can keep going so I am assuming I have a bad torsion bar? I will post some pics of the wheels tomorrow.

The "bad" torsion bar is just worn out from the vehicle being driven around by only one person (the driver) for a while.
Mine are the same way, have to have the driver side torsion bar cranked further than the passenger side, I actually backed off the passenger side a little so that the vehicle leans a little bit to the right, not noticeable unless you pull out yer tape measures though. It'll help as time goes on.
As far as getting rid of rubbing I'd recommend a mild body lift say 1.5 inches? That's what I'm currently working on myself.

I think I will order new bars then so that I can get the full 2" out of them. I do have a 1.5 or 2"(cant remember what size) body lift waiting to be put on one of these weekends. Looks like that weekend has arrived. Hope this allows me to tuck the tires somewhat. Thanks

I'll have pics up soon of what my body lift looks like, the front end is kind of in pieces right now, been working on a lot of stuff at once, rotating tires, changing brakes, oil, etc... whole lot of things since I had spring break this week and the only garage I have available is my parents garage 2 hours away so the wife and I packed up for the weekend and headed up. Needless to say we are ALL looking forward to finishing this stuff!

Ya My wife and I agreed to move from an apartment to a house with a two car garage and over1900 sq feet of house. BIG change. Now I just go out to my overflowing toolbox and air compressor. Turn on the radio. And have at it. If its real cold I use a small heater. It stays about 50-60 degrees in there all year long. My tool box is busting at the seams as I do harbor freight runs alot

Harbor freight, always there for those odd tools and parts, that although are sometimes crap, sure are nice to have! haha. I always leave the garage and come away from my vehicle like I was just in a fight, damaged knuckles, gouges in my hands and arms, and grime that takes days to weeks to come off my hands...always an adventure with this truck....
Yea well, needless to say, body lift = manual transmission shifting problems and frame attached brush guard problems, other than that no issues with anything else, well except that now my COG is higher, but honestly? One inch? not bad at all I think.

well after some grinding and cutting I got the wheels to tuck but still little rub in the front at full turn and at an angle, but soon to be fixed with the new torsion bars. I decided not to put the body lift on yet. Here are some low quality pics. Attachments:

looks like I will need to do the body lift. I am still rubbing pretty good when I take a turn on a steep slope. Going to go the full 2"

Body lift wasn't that bad, may need to uncoil/stretch the brake lines in front, I didn't really need to, there was enough slack. Other than that the body lift was the easiest thing I did. I sourced the blocks (and should have just gotten the hardware too) from this website >> www.4crawler.com/4x4/ForSale/MonteroBodyLift.shtmlYou'll be getting just 10 blocks. 8 bolts will be the same and the two rear ones will need to be a half inch shorter. For example, I needed to get 6 5 and 1/2 inch grade 8 bolts and 2 5 inch grade 8 bolts. Check out a thread I started in the off-road section for some pics if your interested.
