Hi Guys, I don't know if any of you follow military news at all, but one thing that I'm following from news back home (Japan) and from news here in the 'states is that the Chinese have been increasing their naval might in the last 5 years. Recently this year the Chinese are trying to claim Japanese-held and occupied islands known as the Senkaku Islands, which have been part of Japan since the Imperial Era. As we all know, since the end of World War II, the Japanese were pressured to adopt a pacifist policy in military arms and defense posture and thus have remained relatively benign in terms of deployment of forces. That said, despite this, the JSDF, Japanese Self Defense Force, remains one of the best and well-armed military in the Asia-Pacific Region. Thanks in part to Japan's strategic ally, the United States of America. As China is becoming far more and more militarized, I believe that Japan should prepare. This month, the Japanese Navy launched the Izumo, a helicopter-class carrier. It is the largest of its class. Looking at it , it reminds me of the potential and power capability of the Japanese Navy. I believe that it will be inevetible for the Japanese Navy to grow in size so that way we can assist and coordinate with the United States Navy in keeping the Asia-Pacific safe.
