I'm back!!
Super busy during deer season, Then had a few projects here and there etc etc...now I am in between work so that sucks .
Anyways back to the task at hand. Here are the specs for the Trailgear rock sliders: 1 3/4" OD x .120 wall 1035 DOM. The Mounting legs are 11 1/4", I haven't had a chance to measure my sport but that seems a bit short to me. Not sure how they compare to the All Pros. I seriously was considering just welding up my own with 2x2 1/4" square tubing, wouldn't be the nicest looking or lightest but probably be perfect overkill.
As for the body lift, I already have OME coils and bars, and YES!! OMG! I already had to back off an obstacle because the bars were cranked up and the wheel wouldn't compress in and just pushed the body up ARRGH. Need to get a bull bar and winch. I could do the body lift but wouldn't it make it uneven if I uncranked the bars and put a body lift because the rear would be body+sus and the front would just be a body lift?
I'm not sure how much something like a the skid plate would cost to ship lol and how much you would like for it. I am very interested in that design, although I am having a hard time picturing it in my head. aren't the front mounts on the stock skid plate attached to the forward most skid plate? I can be very indecisive at times like the expedition vs crawler deal. I kind of want to to get something for my gas tank but I have yet to need something too crazy, it has scraped maybe twice. I was thinking it would be good insurance but then again that is more weight.... and just like land cruisers which can become really really heavy if you're not careful with mods I don't want to do the same....still on fence. ohhh and seems like a Ford 9" skid is going to run 50$-90 new..
My whole thought of purchasing a truck was for the fact that I could convert the bed into a camper and have a roof rack to carry the rest...have it as more of a dirt road off grid explorer than a off road rig, but there goes my crazy imagination with endless projects I would like to do without the funds or the time..I really hate setting up a tent, looked into a roof top one but then I lose out space up there..I may have to just deal with it, Although I have seen awning tents and maybe could replicate it, Which would be fantastic because it really would only take of space that can't be used by anything else and also I am looking into building a rear storage area with drawers and such with a cargo barrier. I have already stuffed my sport pretty goo don a last camping trip. 4 persons. I have a good amount of backpacking stuff but not sleeping bags...which take up a HUGE amount of room.
ohh btw what type of tire deflator do you use? if any? I have a ARB style one and love it. much faster than hooking up an open an chuck and seems a bit more simple than pulling the valve core. I looked the a staun/military type but were a bit much and I have tried a set where it just depressed the stem in and found it to be not as quick...
Sorry if my posts are all over the place lol.
