The P7 Power Plug iMy friend bought one for his BMW, says it works great and notices the performance... Not on '97 through '99. Those ECMs are not programmable in any way, so any claims that it magically re-programs the ECM is crap. Edward

Ok ! I have a 2003 XLS 3.5L, still kind of undecided about it. I went around and around on this when looking at programing the '00-'05 PCMs a couple years ago. Based on everything I learned from the DSM/Eclipse/Evo guys, it is theoretically possible to modify the PCM programming. Its not easy and I don't think anyone has actually confirmed that it IS possible even on the '00-'05. I have the tools, but since my '03 is stock, I don't have the motivation. I'd demand to know EXACTLY - in DETAIL - what their product does. What it affects, how it affects whatever and how it does it. Not just the marketing BS. If they're straight up and honest, they'll be happy to supply that information. There are a zillion pieces of data that a ECM/PCM uses to figure out how to run your vehicle. Some can be changed to improve performance ON YOUR VEHICLE (but not necessarily someone else's), and some will just make a big mess and you'll end up going the other direction. And SOME will eventually crater your engine. For instance, Sports don't have knock sensors. So, if you tweak the timing - which is a common thing to do to 'improve performance' - and cause detonation, in the not too distant future you'll end up with a big paperweight. The way reprogramming normally works, is you actually reprogram the ECM/PCM. You pull the PROM code off the ECM/PCM, make the changes in the code and then blow the code back onto the ECM/PCM. This is not, BTW, a trivial process. There isn't any way that I'm aware of to make changes to the ECM/PCM in real time while the vehicle is running. According to Mitsu, its not supposed to be possible. If you can get some actual information from them, I can probably tell you if they're blowing smoke or not. Edward

I tried the Jet Performance reprogram and what they were able to do was not very in depth. Just a waste of time trying to get it tuned afterward. For what they did a SAFC is a much better option. Other than that the only thing that makes any sense is the AEM FIC 8 or a stand alone. Take it from someone who has spent the money on all the "options"

That was my take, too. For what you pay, it's not worth it. Yep, F/IC 8, or MS. I don't do turbos or superchargers. Strictly NA. I haven't done the MS yet, but the F/IC is nice and works as advertised. Edward
