Hello everyone. Having a problem with my 2001 Montero Sport. When trying to start it all chimes work, lights go on and windows work. But that is all. When turning the key all the way there is no noise, no click, nothing. The radio light does go out while the key is fully turned.
Doesn't seem to be battery or alternator. Both are new and even tried jumping it, same scenario.
Any suggestions? I am reading it could be starter, solenoid, ignition switch or a host of other things. Just wondering if theres any common problems it may be.
Thanks !

I'm in the process of replacing the starter in my '01 sport ltd actually. Cleaned all contacts on the old battery and starter, checked the entire length of the cable, replaced the battery, and finally pulled the starter. The pinion gear wasn't turning even though it was extending, which produced a solid click but no crank. You might start out by cleaning all your contacts first too, the easiest thing to do first.
