Can you try something for me? At idle with the transmission in Drive, you say it 'misfires'. In Neutral and Park the problem goes away. #1 When its misfiring at idle in Drive (with your foot on the brake), shift down one gear. Let me know if the problem goes away. #2 Repeat the process by shifting down one more gear. Let me know if the problem goes away or continues to be absent if it went away in step #1. #3 Repeat the process by shifting down one more gear. Let me know if the problem goes away or continues to be absent if it went away in steps #1 and #2. It occurred to me last night on the way home that what you might think is a misfire isn't. It talked to the senior tech today while checking out the work on my big Sport and ran the behavior by him. He confirmed what I've been thinking - your descriptions are not jiving with actual possible problems. Edward No, it misfires at all RPMs. But I will try what you said. I will make a video of the lights too but I'll have to wait until dark to do it.

Right now I'm only worried about idle. BTW, AFTER completing these tests, the tech suggested unplugging the battery over night, reconnecting it and seeing if you still have the same behavior. Let me know how it goes. Oh, and make sure all your accessories are off - especially any add-on stuff. Edward

I will post it as soon as it's done uploading. The fluttering lights are hard to get on camera. Also, it had been sitting before I got it so the battery was completely dead. Also, the misfire sounds MEAN on video. It doesn't sound anywhere close to that bad in person.... When I got it, it had a gigantic exhaust leak out of the rusty catalytic converter, I replaced with a piece of flex-pipe and rigged the oxygen sensor in but I haven't sealed it yet, so there's still a small exhaust leak on the oxygen sensor, which is what is making that knocking sound, believe it or not. It was 20x louder before that. But it's not the engine knocking, I checked and the engine bay sounds smooth. BUT, that loud exhaust sound is what makes me think it's possibly an exhaust valve causing the misfire... I will delve into this at a later point. Explaining through words and even showing video are still no comparison to seeing and hearing in person, apparently!
