Does anyone happen to know where I can get a hold of a part list for the oem head units? My MS stock stereo has started acting up lately and I need to replace the power/volume switch. The unit will turn on and off fine, it is just I have to push the knob out of center to get the potentiometer portion of the switch to work. Not to mention the volume memory because the switch is failing, isn't always working. Sometimes I get no sound until I hit the sweet spot of the knob to increase the volume, sometimes I turn it on after shutting the stereo off after listening to it not loud only to have the volume cranked.
The head unit model is MR472956
I already sent emails to Mitsubishi-Electric and Mitsubishi-Electric-USA asking if that switch is available. They make the Auto Audio units for Mitsu vehicles, so I figured I would cut out the dealer who will tell me right off the bat that the head unit is non repairable and try to stealership me for the $800 these things cost.
Another thing I was looking at was maybe one of you guys may be able to tell me the specs of that type of switch. Not quite sure the nomenclature for a power switch that also has an incorporated audio pot. I know it is a through hole pc mount switch.. I can figure out resistance. If Mitsubishi leads me to a dead end I will source the part myself through Mouser, Allied, or Digikey.
As to just replacing the unit? At this moment I do not have funds to spend on a car radio. I have my funds locked up into several other necessities/projects at the moment and cannot spare extra scratch for jams. Besides, aside from output volume being rather weak, this oem unit doesnt sound bad once you replace the stock garbage speakers.
