I'll be pulling the timing belt off this weekend to replace the cam seals, but curious if I should replace the water pump housing seals. The water pump itself has been replaced but the housing was never pulled off so the o-ring and seals are still original at 125k. Question is, how common is it for the o-ring and housing seal to leak on the 3.0? I don't want to take the housing off to replace the seals and o-ring considering the fact that they're not leaking and then create a leak because I didn't follow the rule of "don't fix it if it ain't broke".

Only thing I've ever had leak is the snout seal in a water pump. As long as nothings leaking, I think I'd leave it alone. If you change your antifreeze when its supposed to be changed there should be enough lubricants and other chemicals to keep the rubber seals happy and leak free. Edward

I've flushed out the system 3 time in the past 16k miles to be sure its clean, so I should be in the clear with lubrication. I was going to tear into it this weekend but couldn't get the crank bolt to break loose so ended up just tearing the exhaust apart to weld up all the pin holes and get new gaskets in there...also to delete the 3rd cat so it should have a deep rumble with a Flowmaster 40 on it.

Not sure if the seals you are mentioning are the ones that just blew out on the sport. Also the 3.0L... I had Niagara Falls and thought it was the pump or pump seal. I plan to get more detailed info when I can get the mechanic on the phone. Mine has 240,000 & we did the pump and timing belt @ 225,000.
Which flowmaster 40. The super 40 or the reg 40? I've been debating 40, super 40, or super 44

By 240k I would have replaced all of the seals I was referring to but I am only at 126k haha. As for the Flowmaster, its the super 40. It gives it a nice rumble but still quiet so I am deleting the 3rd cat by making a test pipe. I will have everything welded up tomorrow and maybe snag a video.

It actually did change the sound. The cat is a larger chamber(with a honey com) than a single straight through 2" pipe so it will definitely change the sound.

This guy did the same. Been wanting to do the same for years but didn't want to delete the cats. Best sound I've heard on theses trucks though even at idle. youtu.be/o7dLROSm-hc
