Today when I was driving to take my baby to daycare, I put the window defroster on to clear the window and low and behold after the 10 minute drive to daycare I parked and smelled the sweet smell of burning coolant. Opened up hood and I noticed some coolant on the very back portion of the engine but couldn't see where exactly it may have come from but some was on the firewall. I imagine one of the heater core lines is cracked and sprayed on to the engine when I had the defroster on. Otherwise, I turn off the heat, no problems or leaks.
I'm going to look for the part numbers soon, but does anyone have them readily available for the 3.5 liter limit with rear floor heat. I figured if I am going to drain the system I might as well replace them all.

I just ordered these hoses for my '03 Monty 3.5L, they are: Dayco 71685 Heater Hose - Heater to Tee; Dayco 87617 Heater Hose - Heater to Engine; Dayco 87625 Heater Hose - Pipe to Engine

Okay those are the ones I bought...thanks for confirming. Easy change out? Seems like most clamps aren't too hard to reach. Welp looks like you just ordered....we can talk about our experience as we change them!
I went through Rockauto and actually got the same ones.

It looks like its the connection of the lower hose on the T. Does anyone have a good picture of the routing of these hoses? I cannot see where in the engine the lower hose runs. Looks pretty tight and going to be a pain to replace... Thoughts?

Anyone have any ideas...? I'm waiting for all the hose to come in from Rock Auto since O'Reilly's did not have anything in stock. I have a feeling this is going to be a pain in the @$$ to complete. If anyone has a shop manual and can look to see how the hoses run into the back of the block (Out of sight) from what I can tell. Is there a part number for the Tee? I asked because I'm really hoping that maybe its cracked and I don't have to run that lower hose down to the engine block. I hope someone has done this before. I was watching a video on Toyota landcruisers that they call the "Pesky" heater hose replacement. I really hope ours is not that hard to get to. www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQabGr4KY5g Standing by... I'm trying not to rip down this car if I can help it... Playing single Dad with limited time to work on the truck. Thoughts?

Yeah that T does look suspicious. I was thinking your leak might be coming from the coolant hose running into the back of throttle body, but that T looks pretty wet.

I had one leak up at the throttle body and run down the hose and valve cover and had me guessing until I sat there with a flashlight and a rag one night.lol stupid hoses!!

Hah, I found my leak pretty quick.. the moment I started the truck. The rear hose was heat-hardened and literally cracked when I pulled the tbody loose during my last project. I wrapped some heat shield material around the replacement.. supposed to resist up to 500 degrees. That should help unless the engine catches fire.

Do I have to take off throttle body to get to those hoses?

I had to take the Tbody loose when I did a plug and wire job, and that's about the only way I could move that rear hose because it was so stiff after 171K. That's when it broke.
If it's flexible like my replacement hose you can pull it off without removing the Tbody.. just a little hard to get at.

Okay...did some more fishing around today when I dropped the baby off at daycare, I had another steam show and everyone looked at me like I was the worst parent in the world. Well, I think the T-Junction is an issue, but it looks like the coolant is pooling up in the rubber sleeve on this little throttle body hose. I'm trying to find the part number...anyone have it available. Attachments:

My Napa had molded hose like that. I just bought one from another car and cut it to fit. Is it the hose or the metal pipe?
