Thanks. It looks like the lower boot I'm looking for (MR133173) is still unavailable through this website when you go through the parts search from scratch. It doesn't show up on the list of available parts.

That's the console parts. #3 is the trim boot and #6 is the foor tunnel boot. The one(s) we're talking about are the ones below that on the t-case. Edward

That's the console parts. #3 is the trim boot and #6 is the foor tunnel boot. The one(s) we're talking about are the ones below that on the t-case. Edward The MR133173 is for the 2nd gen as far as I can tell. I can't speak for the validity of the manuals but thats them, 97-04; 2.4,3.0,3.5; manual, automatic, and the different trim colors for the top leather boot. Only other boot is on the shifter itself which I didnt think was replaceable (well removable with no replacement available.) That would seem to be the same issue with the fulcrum. I've never seen any of the individual shifter parts available separate (from mitsu) but if you have the part numbers for individual shifter parts that would be fantastic.

The little black boot on the shifters that covers the fulcrum AT the t-case and transmission (if you have a M/T) are the P/Ns I listed. They are definitely replaceable. I've had a few done in the last few years which is a LOT cheaper than replacing the entire shifter if that's all that's wrong. Edward

One of those you listed didn't bring up anything and the other two are listed in the link I posted with unrelated corresponding pictures. As we know though, that doesn't mean anything. T-case shifter part numbers are different then I guess between the gen 1 & 2 which, would make sense. Someone stated somewhere that it is glued on but, yes user serviceable parts for the shifter would make it much better. Couple places quote $215 for the whole shifter assembly which is rediculous. I did come across MR367737. Appeared to be a little circular boot on the shifter. It was on some site from Australia or somewhere. When I try a search nothing came up in the U.S. and none of the online mitsu parts places has it in their system.

'97 M/T - Shifter: MR7693622 T-case: MR534625 Edward The part number that Edward was referring too for the '97 M/T Shifter: MR769322 The two working part numbers don't seem to be correct in my opinion. The 2 I found are: Manual Shifter - I could not find a part number, only a catalog number. 23127, which is a smaller part of 23100A. T-case - MR567087 from catalog number 30611, what does not look correct is the year of which this one is used, 2000+. Mine is a gen 1, so if it is the correct part I do not know if it is directly interchangeable with mine. For whatever reason they call these Caps, but they clearly appear to be small boots from the transfer case connecting to the shifter assembly. I just want to make sure what I think is the boot is the actual boot, because there seems to be 3, one on the transfer case, then a cover type of boot, which is the 2 numbers Edward gave and then the final shift boot which we can see from the drivers seat and keeps chips, fries and change from falling into the tunnel.

Yea I couldn't figure out which was the lower, lower either. The ones listed are in the link I posted. The #3s are the cosmetic boots (fry, change, soda deflector) between the different years/models and the ones listed as #6 are the ones under the console that bolt to the body. It seems though there were more options for #3 when I first posted it because of trim colors/types. My 01 only has these 2 with an non-serviceable one on the shifter assembly. I did list a part number for one but not sure of the year or model. It may even be for the full size Montero.

I stand corrected.. the boot I wanted to replace IS the one directly attached to the transfer case, I had just forgotten!

Here's the exploded view. This is minus the console removed. The boot shown bolts to the hole in the body and shifter assembly bolts to the t-case.
