Today it was no longer intermitant and no longer went away. I suspect there is bearing damage to the tensioner or its ability to hold tension had been compromised. I fear to even drive it the 5 minutes to the shop. The noise is more intense in person. It seems to be on the passenger side quite close to the tensioner location. It's quite loud by the crank pulley which the tensioner is quite close to. I pray my guess is correct and that the shop warranties the job since, if the tensioner failed, it was due to being left loose and wearing against the timing cover. I plan to have it towed to them in the morning using AAA. I got home a rolled video on the Sport. The noise is much more intense in person. At one point, it almost calmed down, the point I stepped around to the driver side. But then it came back. At the point I shut the video down, I could not bear to let it run anymore. I did notice a slight rubber smell for a brief second. youtu.be/og5GGbFVj8kPlease listen and see if you think it sounds like the other tensioner videos i posted prior.

To the shop about 11am Still waiting to hear from the shop. Sent them the videos I posted. Again praying I'm right cause I sure cant afford any extensive repairs... still paying on our $2200.00 vet bill from the holidays! Shop called and will not be looking at it till Monday. Too many ahead of mine... sent my video to the shop along with the other vids showing tensioner failure sounds...

... Please listen and see if you think it sounds like the other tensioner videos i posted prior. Dang! That sucks! Doesn't sound good. Its hard to tell but I'm thinking maybe the same thing - tensioner. It does sound like something down on the passenger side corner. Edward

Makes me feel better you are leaning that way like me. At least there were NO CELs from it and the truck said enough before we got going on our commute that morning. That and "knocks" don't come and go! Sucks they still have not looked at it! GRRRR! If it was not for the fact that, if I'm right, they are 100% responsible for the repair... I would be using someone else or trying to do it myself!

OMG Red, it sounds like they are responsible for EVERYTHING wrong with your truck. Horrible service.

UPDATE FINALLY! Shop called the tension is bad. Heck yeah! Thank the lord! Said the tensioner was not keeping tension at all anymore. Also all the other belts were a bit loose. He is going to check the water pump to be sure the bearing seems ok. Told him to check the cam seals to verify if that is where the dang leak is. He was supposed to clean that all out last time. I'm debating... do I worry about the timing belt? Its only 25,000-30,000 miles old, but that's a lot of stress on it. Should I just pay to swap it out. Truck is that far down anyway... The water pump is already new due to the replacement that started this mess a few 1000 miles ago. The tensioner will be new too. Called the shop. He is checking to see If the belt is under warranty!

Glad you got it straightened out. I would replace the belt if I were you even if it's just for piece of mind. Like you said it's already torn down anyways.

Plus one on a new belt. I'd get it warrantied out seeing its relatively new.

Think I might also see about the cam seals... got a nasty active leak still appearing on the Alternator and AC condenser. Told the mechanic to check the seals while he was there. So might be proactive and just have them done and I can cross them off the list as suspects. The rear are not leaking. This one quart loss per 700 miles is getting old. If they are not the leak then its valve covers?

Well the valve covers will get new gaskets too with the work that's being done right now, won't they?

do they come off when you do a tensioner or timing belt? I've never done it myself...

You got me there.. not sure! Seems like everything has to come off when work is done on these engines, but you may be right.

LOL... the shop did the valve covers when they did the plugs... just checked invoice... no not that far in. Though honestly I think the valve covers I will do versus pay for it! Debating on whether or not to get a spare set from the junkyard incase mine are bent. Pulling them on a yard car will let me know if I even want to do mine... LOL! Spring time projects

Just got off the phone with the shop.... cam and crank seals are also leaking... freaking parts store crap. Replaced them all 25,000 miles ago! grrrr.... But that would explain the quart losses every 700 miles!
Wonder how they will figure the labor on this... I'm not paying for anything related to the tensioner! I will pay the overage to do the seals, but the belt labor should be a gimme with the seal swap.
