Thank's Edward! Can't believe it took me this long to register on a Sport forum, possibly since I only owned a sport for about 6 months and never modified it. Anyway, the above pretty much covers it. No worries! Glad to help! Edward

... We both noticed that the aftermarket replacement parts have suddenly gotten very low quality (especially our weak link the idler arms) .... Welcome to my world. Ran the Napa 2022/2023 GM 1/2-3/4 ton TREs for years. It got to the point that they'd only last about 8 months w/o any off road use. Same for u-joints. My Spicers will last the life of the drive shaft. I'm lucky if I can get 6-8 months out of the rest. Maybe a year if I don't wheel. I've seen the degradation in replacement parts quality going on for 8-10 years and it seems to keep getting worse. Garbage from China. Sigh. Edward

So we have to start looking at length collapsed and extended? The guys in Oz seem to be using a lot of Toyota shocks That is ALWAYS how you measure shocks. Compressed length - when the suspension bottoms out AND COMPRESSES the bumps stops. ('AND COMPRESSES' is important. Some bump stops can compress an inch or more.) Extended length - when the suspension is fully extended without the anti-roll bars end links attached. Shocks are not 'bump stops' or 'extension limiters'. If you don't get the measurements correct, you risk damaging the shock and/or ripping off shock mounts. Edward

Thanks, Edward. I also just put all Napa gold balljoints on my Montero. The lowers lasted maybr 40 miles. Very dissapointing. Quality is dropping on everything, hopefully i can get to the point where i can do something about that.

Quality is dropping on everything, hopefully i can get to the point where i can do something about that. Dang. That's even worse than my stuff. My solution has become to over-build the crud out of everything. I switched from the 3/4" TREs to the 7/8" TREs (1-tons) - same as all the Pirate guys have been forced to do - and that seems to be working out. Thankfully the price difference between the smaller and larger TREs isn't much. This is one of the reasons I did the SAS back when. Not that I expected parts to go to hell, but I have more alternatives with the SAS in place. So far I stick with factory OEM parts which are still doing well. What's going to happen when that's all out-sourced or the alternative is only aftermarket ... not so sure. Edward

Question about the panhard... had an adjustable on the 87 firebird, but still had some issues (lowered, but still altered geometry). folks started working on relocation brackets, since the birds have upper and lower panhards. Is a relocation bracket also viable or needed? still learning about the geometry on the sports. This is my first 4wd. So OME is not a true 2 inch lift??? what about iron man? if it is so little of a lift... how bad does it affect the panhard. Got to take it all in account, so I'm not screwing thing up. Sometimes doing it in stages will bite you in the butt. If I can't I need to know now... lol Just sucks everything seems to always happen at once... need to win the lottery one day

I think the issue might not be with the lift springs themselves as much as the translation from Australian to English AND Montero to Sport stuff. Just do your own research on your springs and pick a part number yourself not based on what a shop or website says. There are lot of factors and i think it's an OME issue, I have another friend with some 2" OME lift springs on order and i'll let you know how that's handled.

Drop brackets work, i have some friends that have done it. The only down side is that there isn't easy adjustment and the clearance you gained with lift you will loose there.

So where are you finding the spicers for ours? Sorry. Should have been clearer. The Spicer u-joints are on my custom drive shafts for the big Sport. Edward

I think the issue might not be with the lift springs themselves as much as the translation from Australian to English .... OME lifts are not measured in inches, they're metric. A 20mm OME lift is only about .8" and a 50mm lift is about 1.9". Unless things have changed over the years, there was a federal law or regulation there dictating the maximum lift allowed on public road ways which prevented them from producing anything more than 2". 4WDING Australia - Is your 4WD legal?I got the information from OME a LONG time ago, and I think what they probably told me was that it wasn't practical and/or cost effective given regulations. I'll be buying one. Just dropped a well over 1k in new inner outer tie rod ends, bushings, control arms, links, alignmet. Will be a couple of months though, but definitely could use one.

Just spoke with the Mitsubishi tech here. Went to pick up my bulbs for the compass and a new OEM air filter. Told me that they are returning a BUNCH of sport parts due to age and popularity lacking back to the factory. 😧😧
