Hey guys, I'm sure this has been discussed but I haven't been able to find anything recent. I recently installed the 2" OME kit and am now in the market for tires. I'm torn between 255/85R16 (33.1x10) and 285/75R16 (32.8x11.2) and wanted to see if either would present any rubbing issues. Either one would be mounted on the factory wheels which are 16x7. I'm leaning towards a lighter weight, aggressive AT like the Cooper Discoverer ST. Thanks!

Also I have the 4.90 gears from the factory and am wondering it going to a larger diameter tire would actually improve my trucks performance? I know most people go with higher (number wise) gears after going to larger tires.

you should be fine with 4.9 and the green truck of mine has 33/10.5 and rubs in front rarely. But the trick sits level

Pre body lift, I did the OME lift then cranked the torsion to level. I am running 285/70/17s I was getting a fair amount of rubbing when braking and turning. But I went from the stock +10 offset to -6 if I stayed at stock or only went 0 offset I'd probably have been fine. Between sidewall tread, 285 width and -6 offset it was too much IMHO for just the OME lift.

Thanks for the responses! So both of you guys were rubbing but were also using aftermarket rims. Has anyone tired 33" diameter tires on stock rims? Do you think the rubbing is more from width or more from diameter?

But it still rubbed lock/lock My 15x7.5 warriors -12 are great. Negative offset works fine but limited selection

Can't help with the ome lift, but if you actually get a true 2 inches... equate to my 2 inch body lift. I used the factory 16s with 285/75 r16. Mechanic that installed the rims found a slight rub lock to lock, so he trimmed the edge of the bumper slightly. Its not even noticible. Before: After: I cant even tell he did anything... lol... i will get some close up shots

Awesome, thanks for the help guys. I think I'm going to give 255/85 a try and then I'll trim as needed.

Here are the pics of the bumper trimming... Passenger Driver (my bumper was tweaked and does not sit right.... its was further pushed back on the drivers, so the cut is more agressive) I will make cleaner cuts on the new bumper or wait till i install my suspension lift prior to replacing the bumper.

That's a wierd size, who even makes those? LT255/85r16 is not super common, but there are still some good tires in that size and it's the diameter/width I'm looking for, tall and skinny, 33.1x10. BFGoodrich MT KM2 Cooper Discoverer ST Cooper Discoverer ST/MAXX Maxxis MT-762 Bighorn I'm planning on going with the Discoverer ST, it's an aggressive all terrain that is still lightweight (only 48 lbs), so I can keep as much of what little power and fuel economy my Sport has, lol. Thanks! That's not much trimming at all.
