Hello all,
I am a new member hoping you more experienced people can shine a light on my problem. I have a 2009 Montero Sport, just over 100k on the clock. I have maintained the engine, regular oil changes, full service at 100k. But recently it has been sluggish to accelerate. The engine revs ok, but it seems to take so long to change gear. Even the kick down when you want to accelerate doesn't happen. I have changed the SCV (suction control valve) but the problem is still there. Foot down, the engine reves up, but no down-shifting of gears.
My wife wants to take the car to Mitsubishi in our local town, but i want to understand the problem before a mechanic tries to baffle me with BS and make me spend more than i need to.
Any thoughts please
Thanks Steve

Unfortunately the users on these forums really only have extensive knowledge regarding the Gen1(1997~ early 1999) and Gen2 (later 1999 ~ 2004) montero sport variants. These models are the only ones that were sold in North America and anything newer was only sold in other countries, as such I'm afraid there is limited user level knowledge on Gen3 on up here.
Heck I don't even know if the Gen3s on up even came with petrol engines or if it was just diesel after that.
Has it had a full tune up at all?
