Posted back in '08 that I was at 274K, thought I'd give an update. I'm at 335K and still going strong! (double knock on wood)
Burns a little oil but not what I would have expected at +300K. Power is still pretty good; I put a 65 gallon tank in the back and hauled several tanks of maple sap up and down logging roads in the hills of TN this past winter with no problem!

Power is still pretty good; I put a 65 gallon tank in the back and hauled several tanks of maple sap up and down logging roads in the hills of TN this past winter with no problem! Nice! People think I'm blowing smoke when I tell them 500K isn't unreasonable, especially on the 3.0L. Just like the old Chevy small block - fill it up with synthetic and it'll run forever. My little '97 and '03 are still under 200K and my friend's '98 is just about to top 200K. My big '97 Sport is somewhere around 570-580K now. Maybe a tad more. Kinda lost track after it hit 560K. Put close to 15,000 miles on since January. Rebuilt the D44 front axle and replaced the rear D44 (spun a tube) and replaced all the sensors, solenoids and electronics under the hood this year. It'll get the forth complete exhaust system replacement tomorrow. Some things just wear out. But, it runs like brand new! Whoohoo! Ready for another 500K. If I do 40K a year ... mmmmm, it'll make it to 1M in .... Edward

Good idea. I've been using M1 5W-30 or 10W-30 since I bought it. Hasn't complained yet.

I am at 155k on mine...thinking of switching to synthetic starting on its next oil change. Good idea. I don't run anything but synthetic. Diffs, t-case and engine. Also in my 5-speed M/Ts - run standard A/T fluid in my A/Ts. Edward

Switched all my fluids throughout to synthetic except Trans fluid, had dealership do that. So much better gas milage. Went from 12 to 15 average to 18 average and still doing mods. Should be 20 ish average soon.

Should be 20 ish average soon. Makes a big difference. Something else is to use full synthetic moly HP grease for the hubs and joints. Joints obviously won't affect mileage, but it'll make them last a lot longer. I'm sure if you had the equipment you'd be able to tell mileage difference on the hubs but the difference is too small to tell just by the seat of the pants. I especially run this in all hubs, even cars because no matter WHAT you do you always end us with a certain amount of moisture inside. Regular grease - even the moly hp grease - doesn't play well even with just minor condensation. Four wheel drives always have issues with getting moisture in the hubs so something in there that lubricates and doesn't break down if water gets in is very important. KIM, hubs, joints, drive shafts, etc. can suck (literally) water inside just driving through a deep puddle. SynPower® Synthetic GreaseEdward

In a week or so (kids permiting) I will be doing my Aisin hubs, bearings and brakes. I have a couple of tubes of Mobil 1 synthetic grease. I figure can't hurt
