does anyone have a DIY for the serpentine belt and the P/S belt replacement, or has anyone done this that can give me some help? i know how to work the adjuster on the P/S belt pulley, but the pulley itself isnt moving so i can take the belt off (i tried turning the adjuster clockwise and counter with no avail). also is there a tensioner for the ALT. belt or is there another way to get it off? thanks guys

there is an adjuster(tensioner) bolt and then the nut on the front of the pulley... you must loosen this nut FIRST or you can seriously damage the adjuster bolt. all three belts you see there have there own tensioner... the alternator tensioner is the next pulley down from the alternator and the same goes for the a/c

yea but does the alt. belt tensioner have an external nut like the others or is at an internal adjuster like on most domestic vehicles. i cant find an adjuster on my alt. belt to save my life. mine is an 3.0l engine btw.

ok here are 3 pics of the different tensioners... hope they can clarify it better... just remember to loosen the nut on the front of the pulley before you turn the tensioner bolt itself... AIR CONDITIONERALTERNATORPOWER STEERINGonce you have the tensioners loose you can take the belts off from front to rear by pulling them towards the fan and then slowly rotating the fan around blade by blade till the belt feeds out of there. much like re-attaching a bicycle chain and to put the new belt on you will have to do the same but just backwards. starting with the inner most belt. just remember the routing around the pulleys. if you study the pics you can notice when a belt went over or under a pulley.

personally, I found since I wanted to do a coolant flush anyhow, that pulling the radiator, shroud, and fan made things easier as far as routing and tensioning goes. I really wish I had taken pics for the diy section when I had everything out...
