Hey everyone, I recently had a post asking some question about the K&N FIPK Kit. WEll,,now I am asking which is better,,the FIPK or the Injen intake made for the Sport? I know that the FIPK isnt made for the Sport but it does fit on it,,so which of the to is better? The FIPK is like $150 or $160 and the Injen is $250. So if anyone has either of these pls give me some feedback so I can decide which I want to by. Thanks for the input.

I put the Injen on mine and I am happy with it. A noticeable difference in throttle response and better gas mileage (1-2 mpg better on average) have been the main benefits. It also opened up the perfect spot to have my arb compressor mounted. It's not an earth shattering hp upgrade but practically any intake system upgrade wouldn't be.

I have a 00 MS Limited with 3.5 engine and I opened my intake by just buying a MAS adapter (attached to the filter side) and a cone filter from extrememotorsport.com (specialize with DSM and TALON). This setup cost me 1/2 of the other set-up you can find out there. Since I opened my intake I've noticed good gas mileage and quick throttle response. Believe it or not, the MAS adapter for my MS engine is an exact match with the one I have on my 99 eclipse GST and that is the adapter you need. So if our MS are the same, I suggest going with this set-up.

The KN FIPK is a high flow air filter only. It attatches to the MassAirflow sensor and replaces the stock air filter housing. The Injen Technologies kit is an entire intake kit comprised of a high flow conical airfilter, and an intake tube. Both are excellent in quality, though I'd prefer the KN conical filter over the filter that comes with the Injen. Here's a picture of my old setup: I replaced the HKS SuperMegaFlow Filter with my KN FIPK unit do to it's supererior filtering qualities (IMHO). Joel, CA

Hey Joel, that's a nice setup. I on the other hand tried to locate a complete setup but failed to do so. I was told by outlander.com that there isn't one (yet) for 3.5L engine . And the intake (HKS) they carry for my rig just includes the filter and the MAS adapter. If was thinking of just fabricating my own intake tube since I already have the filter and the MAS adapter but if you know where I can just order one, will yah let me know. Thanks. With just the intake and open airfilter element alone...you would be able to hear the air induction of the engine from inside the cabin....however, you may not be able to hear it over your HKS Catback exhaust.

Actually, you'll still be able to hear induction sound from open airfilter with HKS catback. In my setup, oem filter box from 3000GT with K&N direct replacement filter and HKS catback, I can hear the sound especially during WOT. It's just not that loud compares to open airfilter.
