I bought for $35 factory crossbars for a 05 Santa Fe off craigslist. I slid off an end peice, hacksawed off about 1.5" from the crossbar and now they fit perfect. These bars clamp over the exixting roof rails. Pretty easy. I didn't want to go the yak/thule route with tower risers and a square crossbar. Even used, that stuff was expensive.

Nice job! I just bit the bullet and got the Thule crossbars for like, $189. I hated to do it, but after having my '03 XLS for over four years, I got tired of having a $24K SUV with a factory "roof rack" that was so useless you couldn't tie a pillow to it.

no doubt. like, thanks for the rails, now what? 189, ouch. i think the subaru legacy racks are close to fit too. if the rail clamp comes off as easy as the sante fe's, then you could cut those to fit as well.
