A Quebec family driving back from a weekend in the country was visciously attacked last weekend by an unidentified grouse.
Eonknight and his family were driving back from a trip to his father-in-law, where he had done his last preparations in view of the impending deer hunting season. The bird was hiding in a bush on the side of the road. When it's unsuspecting victims drove by, at roughly 100 km/h (±60 mph), the bird took flight and crashed the windshield of the family's beloved transportation, a 2003 Montero Sport XLS. The impact was severe enough that the casing of the rearview mirror/compass/thermometer came apart.
Amazingly, the windshield did not shatter. What little scuff mark there was on the windshield was pretty much removed by rubbing with a wet finger. As the truck is dirty, further damage to the roof has yet to be discovered. Eonknight, the truck owner and father of two, says he'll take care of the cleaning this weekend. "I don't know how good you are with your thirty-ought-six, but you sure can kill game with the truck!", commented Eonknight's wife with a big smile.
The remains of the bird have not been found. The police is not investigating, since the couple decided not to lay charges.
