Damn, I thought I left large-sized earthquakes behind when I moved from Redondo Beach (SoCal) to Cambria (CenCoast). All the "big ones" were supposed to be below us and above us! Our only "known fault" was supposed to produce only a minor 3+ on the Richter...but now we have a "new unknown" fault that can do a 6.5 (minimum). Sh*t be shaken today!!
At first my five-year-old son was a bit upset as I dragged him under a doorjam to ride it out (screaming: 'Dad, the house is breaking.'). Then after it was over, he looked up at me and said: "Cool. Let's do it again!" We're still doin' it...about every 30 minutes with the after-shocks...only at the 4.7 and lower! It's going to be a sleepless night in Cambria tonight!!
My 13 year-old daughter was sitting in a car in Morro Bay and thought someone was jumping on the bumper. Good thing she wasn't in a structure...I think the sounds of creaking and groaning and stuff flying off of shelves and breaking would have been a bit much for her.
Cheers from Train-runnin'-through-the-house land, Stod

I'm glad everything is okay in your household Stod. The pictures of that one on the news looked pretty bad. I remember the quake of 89'. I was stopped at a stoplight on my 86 Honda Intercepter on the way to a job interview. I could see asphalt ripple/waves moving down the Boulevard as the stoplight poles were swaying- I had to really widen my legs stance to keep my bike from tipping over on it's side. Scary sh!t.
