Here you Go! 2006 Mitsubishi Raider – After years without a pickup truck, Mitsubishi introduces the new 2006 Raider, a heavily restyled version of the Dodge Dakota Quad Cab. No, that thing ain’t got a Hemi. Instead, the 2006 Mitsubishi Raider makes do with a 210-horsepower, 3.7-liter V6 or a 230-horsepower, 4.7-liter V8 driving the rear or all four wheels. Styling is patterned after the Endeavor SUV, with bulging fenders and a prominent proboscis. This could be a wise buy for a Dakota intender wanting free maintenance and a better warranty. Best of Luck!

The mistubishi website has more information on it now. I think it's pretty cool looking- not as handsome as the MS- but.... I would seriously consider one- but I like my MS too much. Maybe on the Raider there will be more aftermarket crap to load up on. Really wich Mits would put their more reliable 3.8l in it- but... A diesel option would bring me to the dealership tomorrow.

It's a better alternative to the Dakota simply because it will include recommended factory maintanence service coverage and also include a longer warranty. I generally do NOT TRUST Dodge powertrain ( or any Dodge product in general) but if there were any powertrains in the Dodge lineup i would consider to be reliable... it would be this one ;D.

hmm.. so it is a dodge based drive train?. i had the strange thoguht in my head that it was gonna be a mitsu built engine... which for the most part is a reliable piece of engineering. and also they will begin shipping some time in the summer.... so till then... im saving for a DP....

folks,
It doesn't get more reliable engine wise with the 4.7L engine and what is probably the 545RFE transmission that is always found behind the 4.7L engine sourced from DCX. (Daimler Chrysler)
I know MANY guys with well over 100,000 miles on the engine and transmission with nothing but a tranny flush and fill ever 60K miles and regular oil changes.
I myself have flogged this engine and transmission in my '02Grand Cherokee for over 50,000 miles including over 1,000 actual miles off-road.
The mitsubishi dealer experience is FAR superior to ANY dodge or Jeep dealership. So I'd buy the truck from Mitsu long before Dodge.
The 4.7L engine while only making 230 horses will make 300lbs of torque. With this chasis based on the Dodge Dakota, you should be able to fit the headers and freer flowing y-pipe into a 3" exhaust and hi-flow cat. Combined with an intake system, 4.7L high output cams, and a chip you will have around 270hp at the crank, and around 335lbs of torque proven on a dyno.

Consumer reports does not show this at all and it's nothing but consumers who own the vehicles who are reporting to the agency, so. 100k miles, in my mind does not prove anything in my mind. I saw a Yugo with 100k on it too. 200 and 300k with only routine maintenance- that's something. But, i'm just offering my opinion. I really like the Dodge Dakotas. Certainly the 4.7l is considerably more sophisticated than the retired 5.2 liter.
