Anyone had any ball joint wear problems after cranking up the torsion bars? Saw a thread on an S-10 site that said 4WD S-10's have this problem after a torsion bar "lift" in the front. I have a 94' GMC Sonoma(2WD), so I just kinda stumbled onto this looking for a remedy to a wiper motor issue. Input is most welcome because the next step on the misses LS is a lift.

I cranked the torsion bars the day I bought my sporty 3 years ago and just recently checked and have no notable wear or play yet. also I recently got some OME springs and shock. this makes an incredible difference in ride/performance.

Only problem I see with doing a torsion bar lift is that you lose droop when articulating, if it's just for street then it doesn't really effect things much AFAIK.

You can get some of the down travel back by shaving the upper bump stops (there are two on each upper a-arm that limit down travel) and removing the front sway bar- I'm not recommending removing it, do so at your own risk.

Has anyone found a quick-disconnect for the front sway bar yet? Would like to have better articulation when wheeling, but it's got to go back on quickly for my wifes daily commute. Also, about the OME shocks and springs. Do they offer the best of both worlds? You know, good on AND off road performance?

I haven't found one yet. Someone on the 4X4 wire board made a custom one of- they might fab one for you. The tough part with our front sway is the manner in which it is mounted. If the quick disconnect were on the frame mounts the bar would still need some type of support or else it could just swivel forward. If the disconnect is on the a-arm mounts then it could potentially move around and swivel straight down. You'll have to take a close look to get what I mean....
